Job description

Modular Building Group is seeking detail‑oriented, hands‑on Assistant Controller to support centralized accounting across multiple retail locations, commercial modular projects, and contracts. This role is ideal for someone experienced in multi‑entity accounting, job costing, and fast‑paced operational environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support daily accounting operations, including AP/AR oversight, bank activity, GL coding, and cash management
• Assist with month‑end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Maintain general ledger accuracy across multiple locations and business units
• Track project budgets, job costs, committed costs, and cost‑to‑complete for modular and commercial projects
• Support contract accounting, allowable cost tracking, and preparation of invoices
• Review inventory activity, floorplan statements, unit costing, and funding packages
• Strengthen internal controls, standardize processes, and support system improvements
• Assist with software conversion tasks, including data cleanup, testing, and staff training
• Provide guidance to accounting staff and collaborate with project managers, sales managers, and operations teams

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (equivalent experience considered)
• 3–7 years of progressive accounting experience
• Experience in manufactured housing, dealership accounting, modular construction, or project accounting preferred
