Modern Assistance Programs information

What is a modern assistance program?

Modern Assistance Programs refer to contemporary support services offered by organizations to help employees manage personal and work-related challenges. These programs may include Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs), mental health counseling, financial wellness support, and work-life balance resources. They are designed to improve employee well-being, productivity, and overall job satisfaction by providing confidential and accessible help. Many companies now use digital platforms and telehealth services to make these programs more flexible and widely available.

How do modern assistance programs specialists typically collaborate with other departments to support employees?

Modern Assistance Programs specialists often work closely with Human Resources, management, and external partners to deliver comprehensive employee support services. They coordinate with HR to identify employee needs, design wellness initiatives, and ensure confidential access to assistance resources. Regular communication and teamwork are essential for developing effective programs, responding to emerging issues, and tracking program outcomes. This collaborative environment helps create a supportive workplace and promotes employee well-being.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in a modern assistance programs specialist role?

To thrive as a Modern Assistance Programs specialist, you need a background in social work, case management, or human services, often supported by a relevant degree or certification. Familiarity with case management software, government benefit systems, and data privacy regulations is typically required. Strong communication, empathy, problem-solving, and cultural competency are standout soft skills for connecting with clients from diverse backgrounds. These skills and qualifications ensure effective client support, proper administration of benefits, and compliance with regulatory standards.

Job Description:
What you'll do:
Modern Pest is seeking a Pest Control Technician to service our clients in the Boston, MA and surrounding towns/cities. Upon successful completion of training and onboarding, you'll obtain a pesticide applicator's license and begin to work independently. You'll receive a company-owned vehicle with gas card for all work-related driving, including to and from your home daily, as well as a company cell phone. To reduce unnecessary drive time and be as efficient as possible, your route will be scheduled within reasonable driving distance from your place of residence.
Job duties will include, but are not limited to:
  • Traveling to and from job sites in your company-owned vehicle
  • Conducting thorough interior and exterior inspections to locate dangerous pests
  • Offering sound advice on both chemical and natural pest control remediation options
  • Spraying perimeters of homes and structures for termites, ants and other insects
  • Using bait or traps to eliminate rats and mice
  • Covering gaps/open areas with various materials to hinder pest entry
  • Recommending products and services for effective pest control, such as our eco-friendly SMART solutions

At Modern Pest, we value hardworking individuals with a strong customer service mindset, and welcome those seeking a new opportunity, a career change, a supportive team with growth opportunities, or a management team that sets you up for success.
Job Type: Full-time, year-round, benefit-eligible.
Schedule: M-F, some Saturdays as needed
Work Location: Our team of Service Professionals provide outstanding pest management across New England. This position requires travel in a company vehicle to our clients based in Boston and the surrounding towns and cities.
What You'll Get:

  • Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) for medical and childcare expenses
  • HSA with employer match (for qualifying plans)
  • 100% company-paid Life Insurance and Short Term Disability plans
  • Voluntary Life Insurance, Long Term Disability, Accident, Critical Illness, and Hospital Indemnity insurance options
  • Employee Assistance Programs at no additional cost

Financial Peace of Mind:
  • Competitive hourly compensation
  • Company vehicle and gas card
  • Company cell phone
  • 401(k) Savings with company match
  • Employee referral bonus program

Work/Life Balance:
  • Full time, year-round employment
  • Paid training and in-depth orientation
  • Paid Time Off and 8 Annual Paid Holidays
  • Employer-provided uniforms
  • A peer-to-peer employee recognition program
  • Advancement opportunities within both Modern Pest and our parent company, Anticimex

Required Experience, Education, and Skills:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license
  • For driving roles, must meet minimum age requirement of 21 years for insurance coverage purposes
  • Proof of vaccination may be required to serve our certain clients
  • Successful completion of pre-employment screening, including 7-year background and Motor Vehicle Report screening, as well as a 4-panel drug screen (opioids, cocaine, PCP, and amphetamines not prescribed by a doctor)
