Job description

Job Description
At Team Modern, our mission is to Create Better Experiences...The Modern Way. As a family-owned wholesale distributor, we are dedicated to serving our convenience store customers with exceptional service, accuracy, and efficiency. We take pride in ensuring that the right products reach the right places at the right time, helping our customers run successful businesses.
Our values – Optimistic Energy, Fairness, Teamwork, Customer Focus, and Gratitude – guide everything we do. Our warehouse team plays a vital role in upholding these values by ensuring orders are picked and prepared with care and accuracy, supporting our promise of reliability and excellence.
What You'll Do
As an Outbound Freight Handler, you’ll be responsible for preparing customer orders for delivery by safely loading them into box trucks with precision and efficiency. This includes retrieving orders, handling containers, and ensuring each shipment meets quality standards. The role requires a strong attention to detail, understanding how loading accuracy impacts on-time delivery, inventory, and the customer experience.
This is a physically demanding position requiring repetitive lifting of up to 75 pounds, extensive walking, and a fast-paced work style to meet daily truck-loading goals.
Status: Full-Time
Shift: Sunday – Thursday, 3rd shift
Hours: 8:00 PM - 6:00 AM (overtime as needed). Because we’re a customer order-driven operation, end times aren’t fixed — we work until the day’s orders are done.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Base Pay: $16/hr
  • Performance Pay: Outbound Freight Handlers may earn more based on loading rate (efficiency + accuracy), with no cap on earnings.
  • Perfect Attendance Incentive: $50 bi-weekly attendance bonus.
Plus:
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including:
    • Health, dental, and vision insurance
    • Life insurance and employer-matched 401(k) – up to 4%, fully vested from day 1
    • Paid vacation, personal, and sick time
    • Educational assistance programs and professional development opportunities
What We’re Looking For
We value team members with:
  • Are committed to working safely and following procedures.
  • Are motivated to meet productivity goals and work efficiently.
  • A proven history of reliability and long-term employment.
  • Attention to detail, strong work ethic, and the ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment.
Tools and Technology
You’ll use equipment such as forklifts, walkie-riders, pallet jacks, and dollies, along with RF scanning devices and warehouse management systems to ensure smooth operations.
Work Environment
Our warehouse environment includes ambient conditions that may be cold in the winter and hot in the summer, with cooler and freezer areas maintained at 36°F and -10°F respectively. Freezer wear is provided for work in these areas.
What It Takes to Succeed
Dependability is critical. Punctuality and consistent attendance ensure we meet our commitments to customers and coworkers. Outbound Freight Handlers must work efficiently while maintaining accuracy to uphold our high service standards.
We believe in fostering growth for our team members. Those who demonstrate dedication, desire to learn, and respect for others are encouraged to pursue advancement opportunities within Team Modern.
Join Team Modern
We are passionate about customer service and teamwork, recognizing that every role is essential to our success. If you’re ready to work in a fast-paced, rewarding environment with great benefits and career growth, we’d love to meet you!
