Job Responsibilities:

Job Summary

The role of Simulation Engineer combines knowledge about production, material management, data analysis, and process modeling. It is focused on creating static and dynamic simulation models to increase throughput, efficiency, and estimate adequate resource requirements to Magna production plants. The Simulation Engineer is knowledgeable about Discrete-Event/Agent-Based Simulation modeling and analysis, automotive production environment, materials management, and statistical analysis. The Simulation Engineer is capable of developing projects of moderate complexity with minimum supervision while keeping divisional quality, time, and customer satisfaction standards.

Position is currently vacant.

Salary: CAD$ 75,000.00 - CAD$ 90,000.00 according to experience and knowledge.

Qualifications

Education Required: Bachelor's Degree - Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.

Education Preferred: Master's Degree

Years of Experience: 3 to 5 years

Required:

  • Strong knowledge and practical experience with SIMIO and SIEMENS.
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience in Manufacturing Operation Patterns
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience in estimating production volumes and efficiencies
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience with Operational Equipment Efficiency (OEE) concepts
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience with statistical analyses (descriptive, inferential)
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience in material lineside presentation
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience in under-the-roof materials flow, conveyance systems
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience with automotive assembly processes
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience in MS Excel, Macro development (VBA, C#)
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience in MySQL or similar
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience in Python
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience with Design of Experiments (DOE)
  • English language (fluent speaking/writing/reading)

Essential Duties

  • Validating and analyzing production processes with minimum supervision
  • Building Static and Dynamic Simulation models with focus on throughput improvement, de-bottlenecking, buffer optimization, process improvement with minimum supervision
  • Building Static and Dynamic Simulation models with focus on under-the-roof material flow, fleet estimation, congestion analysis, layout optimization with minimum supervision
  • Building process charts to represent man-machine/process sequences (Cycle Time Charts - CTCs) with minimum supervision
  • Conducting statistical analysis of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) with minimum supervision
  • Building and analyzing what-if scenarios with focus in KPI improvement with minimum supervision
  • Interacting with stakeholders from the organization and customer divisions to collect, validate and analyze process data with minimum supervision
  • Collecting data (on-site/off-site) to build, calibrate and validate models with minimum supervision
  • Making data-driven recommendations related to cost-benefit matters regarding scenarios analyzed
  • Managing project data and meta-data, including procurement, logging, and dealing with unclear/incomplete information with minimum supervision
  • Decision-making on project time and scope, provided no engineering changes are necessary, with minimum supervision
