These skills ensure accurate models, effective simulations, and actionable insights that drive decision-making in complex systems.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in Modeling and Simulation roles, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in Modeling and Simulation often encounter challenges such as integrating complex data from multiple sources, ensuring model accuracy, and communicating technical results to non-technical stakeholders. Addressing these challenges typically involves close collaboration with subject matter experts, ongoing model validation and verification, and using clear visualizations to explain insights. Building strong interdisciplinary communication skills and staying current with evolving simulation tools can also help professionals effectively navigate these challenges.

What engineers make $500,000?

Senior engineers in specialized fields such as software engineering, aerospace, or petroleum engineering can earn $500,000 or more annually, often through a combination of base salary, bonuses, and stock options. High-level roles typically require extensive experience, advanced skills, and sometimes leadership or managerial responsibilities.

Are simulation engineers in demand?

Simulation engineers are in high demand across industries such as aerospace, defense, automotive, and healthcare due to their expertise in modeling complex systems and using tools like MATLAB and Simulink. The growing reliance on digital twins, virtual testing, and advanced modeling techniques has increased employment opportunities for these professionals.

What are modeling and simulation jobs?

Modeling and simulation jobs involve creating digital or mathematical models to represent real-world systems, processes, or phenomena, and then using simulations to analyze their behavior under various scenarios. Professionals in this field use specialized software and computational techniques to predict outcomes, optimize designs, and inform decision-making in industries like engineering, defense, healthcare, and manufacturing. These roles often require strong analytical skills, proficiency in programming, and a background in mathematics or science. Modeling and simulation experts help organizations save time and resources by testing ideas virtually before applying them in real life.

Job description

Why Sabel Systems

Sabel Systems designs and delivers digital engineering ecosystems for DoD programs, enabling teams to connect data, systems, and personnel within secure, scalable environments. Our solutions empower programs to make faster decisions, close sustainment gaps, and meet the digital acquisition requirements.

Rather than simply proposing transformation, we implement and operate it at scale. Our method is clear: we orchestrate existing tools into a governing system of record, ensuring government ownership of infrastructure and traceable decisions. There’s no vendor lock, no proprietary baselines, and no need for ATO rebuilds during transitions.

Sabel Systems is redefining modern defense acquisition. If you seek to solve complex challenges at scale and want your work to directly accelerate military capability while reshaping the DoD’s approach to digital engineering, this is the place for you.

Complexity Simplified. Mission Amplified.

What You’ll Do

Sabel Systems is seeking a remote Modeling & Simulation (M&S) Subject Matter Expert (SME) who is an expert with MBSE tools, such as Cameo and STK.  The M&S SME will assist with building United States Space Force (USSF) data models, provide assessments, and recommending modifications to those data models that enable SysML and/or Unified Architecture Framework (UAF) outputs for systems engineering analysis.  The M&S will be working remotely on a cross-functional Sabel Team comprised of Project Lead, Digital Engineering Consultants, Full Stack Developers, and Front-End Developers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess the existing customer’s data models, determining necessary modifications for implementing a SysML and/or UAF model in compliance with industry standards for system engineering analysis
  • Develop a prototype of the software pipeline to support data model’s SysML and/or UAF output, as needed
  • Utilizing Cameo, propose and develop behavioral and/or structural diagrams to support Business Process Model Notation (BPMN) workflows, mission threads and program data in accordance with SysML and/or UAF standards
  • Lead QA and refinement of SysML and/or UAF outputs to ensure models are fit for purpose and compliant with data model or other identified SysML or UAF style guides
  • Provide remote and/or in-person product demonstrations, as required
  • Collaborate directly with internal teammates or customer over MS Teams calls, chat or email to understand their modeling requirements
  • Coordinate appropriate meeting times with teammates and/or customer, send a MS Teams invite, and join calls on-time, scheduling and attending follow-up meetings, as needed
  • Coordinate with vendors associated with respective software tools, as required
  • Maintain professional communications and appearance with customers and team members, responding to emails and participating in MS Teams calls appropriately
  • Deliver a Monthly Status Report (MSR) detailing technical milestones, accomplishments, challenges, and risks
  • On-call and/or evening or weekend hours may be required, as needed, for emergent issues
What You BringRequired
  • U.S Citizen with an active DoW Secret clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (aerospace, mechanical, electrical, systems, or equivalent)
  • 10 years of M&S experience with modeling tools, specifically Cameo Enterprise Architecture and STK
  • Proficient using Systems Modeling Language (SysML) and Unified Architecture Framework (UAF)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Outstanding spoken and written English skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Process improvement skills
  • Ability to manage multiple products concurrently
  • Professionalism, integrity, and ownership
  • Able to work remotely and the ability to access classified workspaces via a gov facility or CSFC devices
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
Preferred
  • DoW Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
  • Experience in USSF, ideally with the Space Development agency
  • Strong skills writing policies and procedures
