Job Description

The Multiphysics Systems Engineering Analyst - Acoustics & Optics  will contribute to the development of advanced sensing solutions that integrate acoustic and optical technologies. This role is suited to candidates with a strong foundation in either optics or acoustics, coupled with an interest in developing expertise in the complementary field. Working at the intersection of physics, engineering, and software, the analyst will support system modeling, algorithm development, experimentation, and prototype evaluation for next-generation sensing systems.

Key Responsibilities
•    Develop and analyze multi-modal sensing systems (acoustic and optical)
•    Perform multiphysics modeling and simulation to support system design and trade-offs
•    Design and implement algorithms and software tools for signal processing, data analysis, and visualization             (e.g., Python, MATLAB, C/C++)
•    Work with experimental data, including collection, conditioning, analysis, and interpretation
•    Design and execute laboratory and field experiments to evaluate system performance
•    Build and integrate prototype sensing systems (sensors, data acquisition, embedded components)
•    Investigate system behavior, including noise, environmental effects, and calibration
•    Support integration, testing, and performance evaluation of systems
•    Contribute to technical documentation and reports (models, results, design rationale)
•    Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across hardware, software, and algorithms
 

Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or higher in Engineering Physics, Physics, Mechatronics, or related field
  • Strong programming skills (Python, MATLAB, C/C++ or similar)
  • Strong skills in embedded software debugging and performance characterization (ARM)
  • Experience with modeling, simulation, or algorithm development
  • Background in wave physics, signal processing, optics, or acoustics
  • Experience with sensor systems and experimental methods
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to connect theory to real-world performance
  • Experience working with or familiarity with AI/ML models is preferred.

It is a requirement that General Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada be registered with the Canadian Controlled Goods program and that all of its workforce be security assessed. Successful applicants must meet all applicable security requirements, including but not limited to the ability to obtain and maintain a Canadian government security clearance. Applicants may be required to meet additional security requirements in order to gain access to technical data, classified areas or information that is subject to international regulations. You must be eligible to work in Canada.


Additional Information

The hiring range for this position is $100,000-$115,000. Our goal is to provide a fair and competitive offer based on an assessment of internal equity and your qualifications, including:
