Job description

Leidos is seeking an experienced Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) professional to serve as an MBSE Modeler. In this role, you will support the development, maintenance, and integration of large-scale systems engineering models in support of our customer's mission. This is an exciting opportunity to apply hands-on experience with SysML, Cameo Systems Modeler, and collaborative model management in a dynamic engineering environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with systems engineers and other technical disciplines to develop and maintain authoritative system models, establish and maintain requirements traceability, validate model integrity, and support the adoption of MBSE practices across engineering teams. Qualified applicants must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work effectively in an environment with evolving priorities and technically complex requirements

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and expand large-scale SysML models using Cameo Systems Modeler.
  • Develop and maintain system architecture and engineering artifacts including Block Definition Diagrams (BDD), Internal Block Diagrams (IBD), Requirements, Use Case, Activity, and Sequence diagrams.
  • Manage collaborative model development using Cameo Teamwork Cloud.
  • Establish and maintain traceability between system requirements and model artifacts using Cameo DataHub and requirements management tools such as DOORS.
  • Develop and execute model validation rules, queries, and checks to identify broken relationships, inconsistencies, and other model integrity issues.
  • Support modeling and simulation activities to validate system behavior and relationships within the model.
  • Review models developed by other engineers for quality, consistency, completeness, and adherence to established modeling practices.
  • Support the development, documentation, and implementation of MBSE modeling standards, processes, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with systems engineers, software engineers, and other technical disciplines to translate engineering requirements and concepts into structured system models.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to engineers adopting MBSE practices and modeling tools.
  • Support customer technical meetings, engineering reviews, demonstrations, and capability briefings as required.
  • Identify opportunities to improve engineering processes through expanded use of MBSE, modeling, simulation, and digital engineering practices.
  • Support requirements analysis, system integration, technical assessments, and other systems engineering activities as needed.
  • Provide engineering technical support to special projects as required.

Basic Qualifications

  • U.S. citizen
  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph required
  • Requires a BS degree and 4+ years of prior relevant experience or a Masters degree with 2+ years of prior relevant experience. Additional years of experience in lieu of degree are acceptable.
  • Hands-on experience performing Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) using SysML.
  • Experience using Cameo Systems Modeler or an equivalent SysML modeling environment.
  • Experience developing and maintaining system models using multiple SysML diagram types.
  • Experience with requirements traceability and management within a systems engineering environment.
  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Cameo Systems Modeler 2021x or later.
  • Experience with Cameo Teamwork Cloud.
  • Experience with Cameo DataHub and integration with DOORS.
  • Experience developing custom model validation rules and queries.
  • Experience with Cameo Simulation Toolkit or other model-based simulation capabilities.
  • Experience with Cameo Collaborator.
  • Experience developing or implementing MBSE modeling standards and processes.
  • Experience providing mentorship or technical guidance to other engineers adopting MBSE practices.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and tools such as Jira and Confluence/SharePoint.
  • Experience with Python, scripting, or other automation capabilities applied to engineering or modeling tasks.
  • Experience with systems integration, modeling and simulation, or digital engineering environments.
  • Certified Scrum Master or other relevant Agile certification.
