Location: Dallas, TX (onsite or hybrid preferred)

Overview:
Client is actively seeking a Ruby on Rails Developer to support enterprise web application development for one of our long-standing public sector clients, a major academic medical institution based in Dallas. This role will augment their internal development team to support modernization, enhancement, and maintenance of critical web-based systems.
The ideal candidate will bring strong full-stack Ruby on Rails expertise, production experience in enterprise Linux environments, and familiarity with adjacent technologies like Redis, Sidekiq, PostgreSQL, and Vue.js. Prior experience supporting healthcare, research, or public sector systems is highly desirable.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop, enhance, and maintain Ruby on Rails applications (Rails 5 through 7), following MVC principles and clean coding standards.
  • Build user-facing features using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and Vue.js.
  • Integrate with MySQL and PostgreSQL databases for queries, schema design, and performance tuning.
  • Implement and manage background jobs using Sidekiq and caching strategies with Redis.
  • Leverage authentication and authorization tools like Devise, Pundit, CanCan, and Rolify to meet secure access requirements.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing (RSpec, Minitest, factory_bot), and contribute to CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, Jenkins, etc.).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support interoperability with legacy .NET applications, MS SQL Server, and REDCap research platforms.
  • Ensure accessibility, security, and compliance with institutional and regulatory standards.
