Job description

The Director, IT Field Support is responsible for overseeing the management of the IT Support and Asset Management teams for all field and corporate locations. This role is a customer and financial stewardship advocate within the IT department, responsible for optimizing the customer experience, ongoing management of equipment inventory, administration of mobility platform services and the creation of a collaborative culture within IT, amongst the various teams.

All duties and responsibilities are to be performed in accordance with VITAS Healthcare Corporation's policies, procedures, guidelines, contractual commitments, and governmental regulations.

  • Defines a customer experience strategy to improve the IT culture throughout VITAS.

  • Develops process and ensures compliance for technology assessment, planning, acquisition, and installation required for facility related projects.

  • Establishes career path options that will provide mentors, development of skills and on-the-job training to IT Support department to strengthen their current performance and prepare them for future advancement.

  • Approves personnel actions such as:  hiring, performance evaluations, new hire requests, and terminations for IT Support members.

  • Performs annual reviews for direct reports and participates in reviews for other staff.  

  • Reviews, approves, or provides recommendations on potential areas where existing policies and procedures require change, or where new ones need to be developed.

  • Maintains financial and support stewardship of the complex suite of mobile services and devices.

  • Consults with department managers to develop system solutions consistent with organizational objectives.

  • Develops dashboards for program management, and VPO's on program related IT statistics, or other requested information. 

  • Administers and maintains vendor account relations.

  • Develops and directs SWAT teams to promptly remediate IT related issues.

  • Facilitates discussions with program General Managers, VPO's, SVPO's, CCC VP for providing and receiving updates relevant to the program and region.

  • Ensures strong relations with corporate departments by focusing on support, IT needs and improvements in processes.

  • Develops and oversees collaboration among IT Support members and other IT groups.

  • Develops training for the IT Support roles.

  • Develops and oversees subject matter experts among IT Support team for all supported software and hardware to improve onboarding and continued training for new members and contractors.

  • Oversight of compliance of defined processes for facilities related site moves, additions, and expansions or changes (MAC's).

  • Oversight of entire Asset Portfolio for VITAS IT.  Including all mobile devices and mobile device support.

  • Researches and evaluates new business and technical strategies.

  • Makes recommendations to senior IT and/or VITAS personnel on the most cost-effective technical solutions during project design and implementation.

  • Provides recommendations on project plans for all new and changing projects.

  • Directs the strategic initiatives to determine business impact to the location staff and technology infrastructure.

  • Develops and oversee the new processes and procedures for field and corporate file servers.

  • Develops the standard site management logs and disaster contingency plans and process on how to maintain that these documents are correct and up to date.

  • Approves and oversees disaster recovery procedure updates as they relate to IT in field and corporate.

  • Develops equipment deployment process for corporate new hires to ensure equipment is available for employees first day.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Experience:

  • Minimum ten years of experience in IT, preferably in an Enterprise environment and at least 3 years' management experience running an IT Support department.

  • Strong organization, time management and project management skills

  • Knowledge of various IT disciplines and the inter-relationship between them

  • Ability to express complex technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing

  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills are necessary for this position

  • Ability to work on various assignments simultaneously

  • Knowledge of policies and practices involved in the human resources function

  • Ability to manage staff in a positive and productive manner by motivating, developing, and managing employees as they work

  • Ability to utilize and administer the disciplinary action process through coaching and counseling to improve performance or terminate employment

  • Ability to communicate tactfully, verbally and in writing with department heads, managers, coworkers, and vendors to resolve problems and negotiate resolutions

Education:

Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or related field from an accredited college or university or the international equivalent preferred.
