ABOUT THIS CAREER OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the Automation Manager, the BMS / HVAC Controls Technician works on a variety of equipment and devices to design, program, assemble, install, test, troubleshoot and repair automation controllers/electrical wiring, fixtures, control devices and related equipment in buildings and other structures.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Develop and implement automation programming, design graphics, and handle commissioning for new construction projects while providing servicing for existing clients.
    • Responsible for all Low Voltage Electrical work, including:
      • Maintenance, service, installation and replacement or repair of motor control centers, switches, panelboard components, low voltage branch circuit wiring, transformers, control devices and IO devices;
      • Troubleshooting and minor repairs on hardware and sensors;
      • Shut-down, lock-out, and start-up of automation systems and building equipment
    • Provides onsite estimating
    • Offer expert recommendations for automation solutions
    • Provides automation/controls support for the HVAC service team; assist with HVAC control installations in commercial buildings
    • Adheres to all company policies, procedures, and standards, and performs other assigned duties as needed

    EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

    • Electrical or Electrical / Mechanical / Instrumentation Engineering certificate is recommended
    • N4 certified.

    WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

    • 3+ years of HVAC automation experience in the ICI sector (Institutional, Commercial, Industrial)
    • 3+ years estimating experience considered an asset

    SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

    • Experience with, JCI FX, & Honeywell BAS and HVAC systems an asset
    • Knowledge of computer software's such as Microsoft and mobile device applications
    • Follows written and verbal instructions
    • Maintain a professional demeanor and courteous phone etiquette when interacting with colleagues, customers,
      and stakeholders
    • Travel to various sites, including out-of-town locations as needed, and be available for occasional overtime
    • Physical requirements: bending, lifting up to 30 kg, working at heights, and in confined spaces
    • Clean & Valid Class 5 AB Driver's License and abstract
