Job description

Summary: Looking for experienced painters that can sand, grind, prep, mask, taping, applying decals, and spraying. Painters are responsible for the locomotive's interior, exterior, underframe, and locomotive parts. The painter will work with other members of the Locomotive Division to refinish repairing the interior and exterior of locomotives and any other TGS property as needed.
Essential Functions:
  • Preparation and painting of remanufactured locomotive air compressors, air dryers.
  • Proper use of required PPE
  • Degrease, sand, grind, blast, and pressure wash units.
  • Prep locomotive and components before sandblasting
  • Sandblast locomotives and components
  • Must be able to prepare surfaces and properly apply paint and other finishes to surfaces of manufactured products.
  • Install decals.
  • Properly label and store paint and chemicals.
  • Must inspect finished surfaces for proper appearance and use to determine pain build thickness.
  • Must be able to complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner with attention to detail.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • At least 1 year of commercial, industrial or Auto Body paint experience
  • Ability to work around and operate overhead cranes and mobile equipment.
  • Ability to utilize pressure washers, pressurized paint delivery systems and other equipment.
  • Experience with hand and power tools such as, grinder, sanders, drills, wrenches, etc.
  • Ability to work around loud machines and equipment.
