What is a full time canvas painting?

A full time canvas painting job involves creating artwork on canvas as your primary occupation, either for galleries, private commissions, or commercial projects. Artists in this role may work independently as freelancers or be employed by studios, art companies, or educational institutions. Responsibilities typically include designing, painting, and finishing original works, maintaining a consistent workflow, and sometimes collaborating with clients or teams. Full time canvas painters often exhibit their art, manage sales, and continually develop their skills. This career requires creativity, discipline, and a strong portfolio to succeed.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a full time canvas painter?

To thrive as a Full Time Canvas Painter, you need artistic ability, mastery of painting techniques, and a portfolio that showcases your work. Familiarity with various painting mediums, studio tools, and sometimes digital design software is beneficial. Creativity, self-discipline, and effective self-promotion are crucial soft skills for standing out in this creative field. These skills and qualities are important for producing high-quality artwork, maintaining productivity, and building a successful professional reputation.

What are some common challenges faced by full time canvas painters, and how can they be managed?

Full-time canvas painters often face challenges such as creative blocks, managing inconsistent workloads, and maintaining a steady income. To address these, many artists develop routines to foster creativity, actively network to secure commissions or gallery showings, and diversify income streams through teaching, workshops, or selling prints. Collaboration with other artists and participation in local art communities can also provide support and inspiration. Staying organized and setting clear project timelines helps manage multiple deadlines and client expectations effectively.

Job description

Door-to-Door Canvassing Manager

Location: Riverview and Tampa Bay Area, Florida
Job Type: Full-Time
Work Location: In Person and in the Field
Compensation: Competitive Pay + Team Performance Incentives

Build, Lead, and Develop a Winning Canvassing Team

AA Total Painting is looking for a competitive, hands-on leader to build and manage our door-to-door canvassing team.

This is not a desk-management position. We need someone who can recruit talented people, train them effectively, lead them in the field, and hold the team accountable for producing qualified leads and scheduled estimates.

We want a leader who loves to win, enjoys developing people, and takes complete ownership of results. The ideal candidate is energetic, organized, disciplined, and willing to lead from the front.

If you know how to motivate people, create accountability, and turn consistent activity into measurable results, we want to meet you.

Who We Are

AA Total Painting is a professional residential and commercial painting company serving homeowners throughout the Tampa Bay area. We specialize in high-quality interior and exterior painting while delivering an exceptional customer experience.

Our company has achieved more than 80% year-over-year growth for three consecutive years. A major part of that success comes from our marketing efforts and our ability to connect directly with homeowners.

We’re building a professional canvassing department that creates opportunities for our sales team while developing motivated individuals into confident sales professionals.

Your Mission

Your primary responsibility will be to build, train, manage, and grow a high-performing canvassing team.

You will be responsible for ensuring that canvassers remain productive, follow the company’s process, generate qualified leads, and consistently schedule painting estimates.

Success in this position will be measured by the performance and development of the team you lead.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruit, interview, onboard, and develop new canvassers.
  • Lead daily team meetings, training sessions, and role-playing exercises.
  • Teach canvassers how to approach homeowners confidently.
  • Train the team on scripts, qualifying questions, appointment setting, and objection handling.
  • Establish daily, weekly, and monthly activity goals.
  • Assign neighborhoods and create efficient canvassing routes.
  • Lead the team in the field and demonstrate the expected standard.
  • Observe canvasser conversations and provide immediate coaching.
  • Track doors knocked, homeowner conversations, leads generated, and estimates scheduled.
  • Monitor lead quality and appointment completion rates.
  • Review daily reports and communicate results to company leadership.
  • Keep canvassers motivated, focused, and accountable throughout each shift.
  • Identify performance problems and create improvement plans.
  • Recognize strong performers and help prepare them for advancement.
  • Coordinate with the sales and office teams to ensure appointments are entered accurately.
  • Confirm that customer information is complete and properly documented.
  • Help maintain a professional, competitive, and positive team culture.
  • Continuously improve scripts, training, routes, and overall field performance.

Performance Expectations

The Canvassing Manager will be accountable for:

  • Recruiting and retaining dependable canvassers.
  • Maintaining consistent team attendance and punctuality.
  • Ensuring canvassers remain active and productive in the field.
  • Increasing the number of qualified leads generated.
  • Increasing the number of painting estimates scheduled.
  • Maintaining strong lead quality and appointment accuracy.
  • Improving individual and team performance through coaching.
  • Providing accurate daily and weekly performance reports.
  • Meeting or exceeding established department goals.
  • Building a culture of discipline, accountability, growth, and winning.

This role requires someone who can manage both people and numbers. You must be able to motivate the team while also addressing performance issues directly.

The Leader We’re Looking For

We want someone who:

  • Loves to compete and achieve ambitious goals.
  • Leads by example instead of managing from a distance.
  • Can motivate different personalities.
  • Is confident having direct accountability conversations.
  • Knows how to encourage people without lowering expectations.
  • Is organized and pays attention to details.
  • Makes decisions and solves problems quickly.
  • Remains positive and composed under pressure.
  • Accepts responsibility for team performance.
  • Is coachable and communicates well with company leadership.
  • Wants to build something meaningful rather than simply maintain it.
  • Is motivated by income, achievement, leadership, and growth.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in canvassing, door-to-door sales, field marketing, or team leadership is strongly preferred.
  • Experience recruiting, training, or managing performance-based teams is a plus.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Confidence speaking with homeowners and coaching employees in the field.
  • Ability to track and understand performance metrics.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of the department.
  • Willingness to work outdoors and walk for extended periods.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Ability to commute throughout Riverview and the Tampa Bay area.
  • Ability to pass a background check.

What We Offer

  • Competitive compensation.
  • Team performance bonuses and incentives.
  • Paid training and ongoing leadership development.
  • Direct access to company leadership.
  • The opportunity to build and shape a canvassing department.
  • A growing company with opportunities for advancement.
  • A small-team environment where your impact will be recognized.
  • The potential to grow into a larger sales or marketing leadership role.
  • Support, systems, and resources to help your team succeed.

Please Do Not Apply If

  • You are unwilling to canvass alongside your team.
  • You prefer managing from a desk.
  • You avoid difficult conversations or accountability.
  • You blame the team without providing coaching and solutions.
  • You need constant supervision to remain productive.
  • You are uncomfortable tracking numbers and reporting results.
  • You are unable to motivate people with different personalities.
  • You are unwilling to recruit or train new team members.
  • You accept missed goals without creating a plan for improvement.
  • You are not willing to take ownership of the department’s results.

Why Join AA Total Painting?

At AA Total Painting, you will have the opportunity to build more than a team—you’ll help build future sales professionals.

We’re looking for a leader who can turn potential into performance. Your ability to recruit, train, coach, and inspire will directly contribute to the company’s continued growth.

You won’t be another manager inside a large corporation. You’ll be a key leader with direct access to ownership and a real opportunity to influence how the department is built.

If you love to lead, love to win, and want your income and advancement to reflect the results you produce, this opportunity is for you.

Next Steps

  • Submit your application.
  • The owner will reach out for a brief introductory phone call.
  • We’ll discuss your leadership experience, goals, and management approach.
  • Qualified candidates will be invited to the next stage of the interview process.
  • We’ll review the compensation structure, performance expectations, schedule, and growth opportunities.

Apply today and help us build one of the strongest door-to-door canvassing teams in Tampa Bay.

Benefits

  • Paid training
  • Paid time off, subject to eligibility
  • Performance incentives
  • Professional development
  • Leadership advancement opportunities
