Mobile Nurse Practitioner information

What is a mobile nurse practitioner?

A Mobile Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a healthcare professional who provides medical services in various locations rather than a fixed clinical setting. They typically travel to patients' homes, assisted living facilities, or community centers to offer primary care, urgent care, or specialized medical treatments. This role improves access to healthcare, especially for patients with mobility challenges or those in underserved areas. Mobile NPs assess, diagnose, and treat illnesses, prescribe medications, and provide preventative care. They often work independently or as part of a mobile healthcare team to deliver convenient, patient-centered care.

What does a mobile nurse practitioner do?

As a Mobile Nurse Practitioner, your day often involves traveling to patients’ homes, workplaces, or care facilities to provide primary or specialized health services. You may perform assessments, manage chronic conditions, administer treatments, and educate patients on self-care, often working with minimal direct supervision. Collaboration with physicians, case managers, and other healthcare providers is common, especially when coordinating care or referring patients for additional services. Each day brings a dynamic mix of patient interactions and logistical planning, making flexibility and strong time-management abilities especially valuable in this role.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a mobile nurse practitioner?

To excel as a Mobile Nurse Practitioner, you need advanced clinical assessment skills, a nurse practitioner degree with appropriate state licensure, and experience delivering care autonomously. Familiarity with portable medical equipment, telehealth platforms, and electronic health records is essential for effective documentation and patient management on the go. Strong organizational skills, adaptability, and excellent interpersonal communication help you thrive in varied and sometimes unpredictable environments. These skills ensure that you can provide high-quality, patient-centered care in a variety of community or home-based settings.

How much does a mobile nurse practitioner make?

A mobile nurse practitioner typically earns between $90,000 and $120,000 annually, depending on experience, location, and specialty. They often work independently or with healthcare agencies, providing services in various settings and requiring valid licensure and certification.

Healthcare is changing. The question is whether your career is changing with it.

The traditional healthcare model is evolving.

Patients are seeking care closer to home.

Senior communities are demanding greater access to providers.

Healthcare systems are looking for ways to improve outcomes while reducing unnecessary hospitalizations.

And specialized providers are becoming more valuable than ever.

Twin Cities Physicians is at the center of that shift.

Our providers deliver advanced medical care directly inside assisted living communities, memory care settings, transitional care programs, and long-term care environments throughout the Twin Cities Metro. Rather than waiting for patients to navigate multiple healthcare settings, we bring specialized care directly to where they live.

We're seeking a Nurse Practitioner who wants to be part of the future of senior healthcare while building expertise in one of the fastest-growing areas of medicine.

Organizations such as Bluestone Physician Services, Genevive, and Lifespark have helped demonstrate the demand for community-based medicine. Twin Cities Physicians continues to expand throughout Minnesota by investing in providers who want to help shape what's next.

Why Providers Are Making the Move
  • $120,000 to $160,000+ total compensation opportunity through a combination of base salary and productivity incentives.
  • Join a healthcare model experiencing significant growth throughout Minnesota and across the country.
  • Build specialized expertise in wound care, geriatric medicine, post-acute care, and chronic disease management.
  • Become part of a provider organization serving hundreds of senior communities throughout Minnesota.
  • Receive mileage reimbursement, CME support, malpractice coverage, DEA reimbursement, PTO, and comprehensive benefits.
  • Work alongside physicians, advanced practice providers, and clinical teams focused on improving care delivery.
What You'll Be Doing
  • Provide advanced wound care services and community-based rounding throughout senior living communities.
  • Manage pressure injuries, diabetic wounds, post-surgical wounds, skin integrity concerns, and complex cases.
  • Support chronic disease management, preventative care, and care coordination efforts.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, caregivers, and facility teams.
  • Help improve outcomes while reducing avoidable hospitalizations and complications.
  • Serve as a trusted clinical partner within the communities you support.
Qualifications
  • Active Minnesota Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP) license (AGNP preferred).
  • Experience in wound care, geriatrics, primary care, post-acute care, skilled nursing, or related settings preferred.
  • Strong clinical judgment and confidence practicing independently.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout the Twin Cities Metro Area.

The providers who thrive over the next decade won't simply adapt to changes in healthcare. They'll help lead them.

If you're looking for a full-time opportunity that combines strong compensation, specialized clinical practice, and a chance to be part of one of healthcare's fastest-growing care models, we'd love to connect.
