The Construction Manager 1 is accountable for day-to-day leadership and management of the project construction site. This role ensures the safe and secure operation of the site, maintains adherence to project controls and scheduling milestones, and upholds Quality Assurance/Quality Control standards. The Construction Manager plans, directs, and coordinates activities related to the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems. Additionally, this role participates in the conceptual development of construction projects, overseeing their organization, scheduling, budgeting, and implementation.
Responsibilities
  • Participates in the development of a comprehensive scope matrix, incorporating site logistics, resource requirements, and initial work packages. Analyzes subcontractor quotes to address scope coverage and exclusions, while rectifying any ambiguities to ensure an executable scope of work.
  • Supports the administration of site surveys to identify constructability constraints, reviews engineering documents for compliance with design principles, codes, standards, and best practices, and provides oversight for scheduling and execution in field commissioning activities to verify proper implementation and functionality.
  • Engages with customers and stakeholders to build buy-in for modular construction projects, assists in project planning and modular scorecard completion, reviews designs for constructability and logistical feasibility, participates in execution of QA/QC plans, development of logistics plans using 3D scans, and oversees testing and commissioning requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Utilizes InfraLink for project management, including applying lessons learned to future projects, creating and managing schedules, and reporting on production progress and issues. Participates in the use of InfraLink's mobile and web platforms to generate detailed reports on installation, testing, and asset management, implement production planning and tracking, and follow company document control processes to ensure accurate documentation and communication with stakeholders.
  • Participates in the management of the procurement processes by verifying Bill of Material (BOM) specifications, identifying subcontractor scopes of work, and assisting in the development of subcontractor compliance matrices and selection criteria. Conducts evaluations of subcontractor proposals, maintains change order logs and billings, and assists with implementing cost-saving strategies.
  • Participates in development of CPM schedule by collaborating with the project scheduler to define calendars, identify milestones, and establish time constraints. Assists with material cost and manpower forecasting by reviewing vendor quotes, understanding equipment needs, and projecting labor requirements. Prepares monthly schedule narratives to track project progress and ensure alignment with baseline schedules.
  • Supports project administration by coordinating and managing project submittals, RFIs, change orders, and daily reports, ensuring timely action, accurate documentation, and alignment with project schedule and specifications.
  • Participates in management of project scope changes through accurate identification, description, and tracking of change orders, ensuring alignment with project budgets and profitability targets, while also overseeing risk management activities to mitigate potential impacts on project costs and schedules.
  • Fosters positive client relationships through effective communication, timely issue resolution, and proactive management of scope changes, ensuring adherence to contractual obligations.
  • Participates in managing field operations to ensure safety, quality, and schedule adherence, including overseeing safety protocols, managing construction activities in accordance with project requirements, conducting regular inspections of the installation, maintaining and promoting a "punch as you go" punch list, and driving schedule execution through resource management and communication with stakeholders
  • Supports talent development and leadership initiatives by supervising construction staff, participating in recruitment efforts, planning training and development programs for team members, facilitating career planning processes, conducting annual reviews and goal-setting, and implementing disciplinary actions as necessary. Ensures adherence to company QA/QC processes and assists with forecasting future staffing needs based on project and proposal efforts.
