Our engineering team is responsible for building and operating high-security mobile solutions for a highly visible government customer, and you'll play a key role in delivering reliable, secure, and scalable applications by contributing immediately within an Agile delivery model, collaborating closely with security and backend teams, and driving disciplined execution in a classified environment.
We know that you can't have great technology services without amazing people. At MetroStar, we are obsessed withour people and have led a two-decade legacy of building the best and brightest teams. Because we know our future relies on our deep understanding and relentless focus on our people, we live by our mission: A passion for our people. Value for our customers.
What you'll do:
  • Design, develop, test, integrate, optimize, and debug secure web applications and backend services in Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or similar languages, including UIs built with HTML, CSS, and modern web frameworks.
  • Develop backend services and application logic integrating REST APIs, SQL databases, and enterprise systems, using PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, or comparable platforms.
  • Develop, refactor, and maintain automation scripts (PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar) and work in Linux environments to support troubleshooting, command-line diagnostics, scripting, and deployment tasks.
  • Build dashboards, monitoring views, telemetry applications, and operational tools that improve visibility for support teams and mission stakeholders, including simplified interfaces, automated workflows, and guardrails enabling Tier 1/operational personnel to handle repeatable tasks with less engineering escalation.
  • Apply secure coding practices across web, backend, database, scripting, API, mobile, and integration work, and troubleshoot complex application, integration, automation, data, Linux, and API issues in a secure enterprise environment.
  • Document code, architecture, API integrations, database dependencies, SOPs, and support procedures for post-delivery maintainability.
  • Support mobile and UC-adjacent deliverables as needed, including cross-platform mobile apps, Android/enterprise Android integrations, Cisco UC tooling, VPN diagnostics, SIP/RTP visibility, and packet-loss/network-degradation testing utilities.
  • Coordinate with application development, UC, mobile, endpoint, network, cybersecurity, database, Tier 1 support, and Government stakeholders to ensure solutions are usable, supportable, secure, and operationally aligned.

What you'll need to succeed:
  • Active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field preferred; relevant experience may substitute.
  • 5+ years of full stack software development experience.
  • Experience developing web applications and backend services.
  • Experience with Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or similar languages.
  • Experience with HTML, CSS, and modern web frameworks.
  • Experience with PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar scripting languages.
  • Experience with REST APIs and SQL databases, preferably PostgreSQL or Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Experience developing in Linux environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting, automation, and secure coding skills.
  • Ability to work in secure, mission-critical DoD or federal environments with strong documentation and operational discipline.
