Job description

Mobile Service Technician – GM MobileService+

Company: Joe Bullard Chevrolet
Location: Mobile, Alabama
Pay: $20–$25 per hour, based on experience
Job Type: Full-Time

About the Position

Joe Bullard Chevrolet is hiring a Mobile Service Technician to support our GM MobileService+ program. This role is designed for a technician who can represent our service department outside the dealership and provide select maintenance, repair, diagnostic, software, and recall-related services at a customer’s home, workplace, or other approved location.

This is not a traditional shop-only technician position. The right person will be trusted to work independently, manage a mobile service van, communicate professionally with customers, and deliver the same level of care and quality our customers expect from Joe Bullard Automotive.

What You’ll Do

As a Mobile Service Technician, you will perform scheduled service appointments using a fully equipped MobileService+ van. Services may include:

  • Oil and filter changes

  • Fluid checks, including coolant, washer fluid, brake fluid, power steering, and other applicable systems

  • Tire rotations and tire-related services

  • Multi-point inspections

  • 12V battery testing and replacement

  • Wiper blade replacement

  • Engine air, diesel, and cabin air filter replacement

  • Brake inspections and select brake work, including pads and rotors when appropriate for mobile service

  • Lamp and bulb replacement

  • Hose inspections and select hose replacement

  • Diagnostic scanning

  • Basic electrical and wiring checks

  • Key fob-related service

  • Select interior, seat, instrument panel, lockset, mirror, and window-related repairs

  • Select accessory installations

  • Software updates and programming when applicable

  • Select recall repairs approved for mobile completion

Some services, accessories, and recalls may still require work to be completed inside the dealership. In those cases, this technician will help identify the need, communicate clearly, and coordinate the next step with the service team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete scheduled MobileService+ appointments safely, efficiently, and professionally

  • Inspect vehicles and document recommended maintenance or repair needs

  • Use GM service information, scan tools, tablets, and dealership systems as required

  • Communicate clearly with service advisors, dispatch, parts, and customers

  • Maintain accurate repair order documentation

  • Keep the mobile service van clean, stocked, organized, and ready for daily use

  • Manage parts, tools, fluids, and equipment responsibly

  • Follow all GM, dealership, safety, warranty, recall, and environmental procedures

  • Represent Joe Bullard Automotive with professionalism at every customer location

  • Know when a job can be completed mobile and when it should be moved back to the dealership

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, customer-focused, and comfortable working without constant supervision. This person does not need to be a master technician, but they should have solid automotive maintenance experience, good diagnostic habits, and the maturity to be trusted in front of customers.

Qualifications
  • Automotive service experience required

  • GM, Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick, or GMC experience preferred

  • ASE certifications are preferred but not required

  • Experience with oil changes, tire rotations, batteries, filters, brakes, inspections, and light repair

  • Diagnostic scan tool experience preferred

  • Comfortable using tablets, service software, and digital repair order documentation

  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required

  • Ability to work independently

  • Strong communication and customer service skills

  • Must be dependable, punctual, and professional

  • Ability to lift, bend, stand, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions

Why This Role Matters

MobileService+ is one of the most convenient ways we can serve customers. Instead of asking every customer to come to the dealership, we bring select GM service directly to them. This position will help us grow customer retention, improve convenience, complete more maintenance and recall work, and create a better ownership experience for Joe Bullard customers.

Compensation

This position pays $20–$25 per hour based on experience.
