Education Level: Bachelor's Degree*

*This position is contingent on contract award*

Job purpose

The EWS Writer provides editorial, publishing, writing instruction, and academic support for Expeditionary Warfare School distance education courseware, assessments, faculty-development materials, and online writing resources.

Duties and responsibilities
  • Edit exams and courseware revisions.
  • Paginate courseware.
  • Assemble original course books and exams electronically.
  • Convert text type files into mobile e-book compatible files, e.g., MOODLE books.
  • Reformat Government or commercial courseware into MS Word and Adobe Portable Document Format (.pdf) formats after obtaining any necessary copyright permission.
  • Coordinate copyright requests with curriculum SMEs and the MCU copyright clerk.
  • Maintain an archive of copyright permissions requested and completed.
  • Assist curriculum developers in collecting and reporting results of the CCRB up to 18 times annually.
  • Edit faculty development materials, online content, and courses.
  • Conduct anti-plagiarism and artificial intelligence software checks on written assignments.
  • Provide writing and composition advice and assistance to CDET staff, curriculum SMEs and students.
  • Maintain CDET online writing centers for appropriate programs.
  • Develop online writing tools and courses for students and faculty.
  • Teach an online essay fundamentals class four times each year for each program.
  • Understand the use of artificial intelligence programs to assist SMEs with curriculum development.
QualificationsQualifications

Graduate of Expeditionary Warfare School (EWS) preferred.

Master's degree in English, Communications, Education, Military History, National Security Studies, International Relations, or a related discipline desired.

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Technical Writing, Education, History, Political Science, Military Studies, or a related field.
Years of Relative Work Experience
  • Five (5) years of professional writing and editing experience.
  • Experience editing technical, academic, military, or government publications.
Clearance
  • Minimum Tier 1 background investigation and Government-access eligibility are required; an active Secret clearance is required before supporting classified events or tasks.
