Job description

The Sales Manager of Integrated Mills will ensure that all accounts are serviced and ensure that all opportunities to up-sell, upgrade, and add value to product lines is accomplished. Develop and submit quotes in pursuit of new business, and plan and direct customer trials in pursuit of new business. Act as point of contact in investigating product performance problems and coordinate with Account Managers, Regional Sales Managers, manufacturing, R&D and other Vesuvius resources to resolve issues. Sales Manager will be expected to abide by all Vesuvius and customer safety requirements.

This position is mobile/remote with travel required within Canada. 30% travel expected.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Growing business by building successful, long-term customer relationships.
  • Managing a portfolio of accounts to achieve long-term success.
  • Developing positive relationships with customers.
  • Acting as the point of contact and handling customers’ individual needs.
  • Generating new business using existing and potential customer networks.
  • Resolving conflicts and providing solutions to customers in a timely manner.
  • Conduct standard product investigations and coordinate / lead trials and projects; responsible for coordinating with and assisting M&T (technical) team to issue technical reports on all completed investigations and/or projects.
  • Where applicable, Sales Managers will supervise Technical Sales Leads to ensure support needs are met.
  • Reporting on account status.
  • Setting and tracking sales account targets, aligning with company objectives.
  • Monitoring sales metrics (quarterly sales results and annual forecasts).
  • Suggesting and implementing actions to improve sales performance and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Manage daily service activities such as:
    • Inventory planning and forecasting.
    • Product usage forecast and delivery schedules
    • Obtaining and processing appropriate information for timely invoicing
    • Routine data collection and reporting
    • May provide preventative and emergency equipment maintenance

Qualifications:

  • BS required. A degree in a related engineering discipline will be considered.
  • 3+ years’ experience with steel making, industrial ceramics, refractory installation or construction is desired.
  • Prior managerial experience

      Skills:

      • Basic mechanical skills to allow for the service of associated refractory application equipment.
      • Reasonable computer skills (Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes, etc.).
      • Good interpersonal skills including oral and written communications, team leadership and presentation.
      • Strategic sales planning experience.
      • Ability to manage multiple issues and projects within a specified timeframe.
      • Ability to develop and manage customer relationships at multiple levels within the customer including plant manager to hourly employees.
      • Ability to manage internal communications with commercial, technical and customer service teams.
      • Ability to recognize and act on continuous improvement opportunities.
