Summary of Position (Job Purpose)

We are looking for a skilled Mobile Application Developer to join our growing technology software development team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3+ years of experience as a mobile application developer. In this role, you will design, architect, and build highly performing mobile applications across both iOS and Android platforms. You will collaborate closely with UI/UX designers and backend engineers to turn beautiful wireframes into smooth, responsive, and secure user experiences.

This role is responsible for the development and code quality for the Family Dollar Mobile Application in collaboration with the Digital Product Manager for Mobile Applications.  The Developer needs to be highly collaborative, well organized, with strong communication & problem-solving skills. The ideal candidate should also have Management experience to lead individual contributor(s), contractors & vendors as the role evolves over time to include additional digital responsibilities.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Cross-Platform Development: Build pixel-perfect, buttery-smooth user interfaces across iOS and Android apps using React Native.

  • Native API Integration: Leverage native APIs and build custom bridges to connect JavaScript with native iOS (Swift) and Android (Kotlin) code when necessary.

  • Performance Optimization: Diagnose bottlenecks and fix performance flaws to ensure applications match native-speed responsiveness.

  • State Management: Implement clean architectures using modern state management libraries.

  • API Consumption: Integrate backend RESTful or GraphQL APIs and handle complex asynchronous workflows.

  • App Store Management: Oversee deployment pipelines and manage submissions to the Apple App Store and Google Play Console.

  • Code Quality Assurance: Maintain clean, documented code and write automated testing suites to protect app stability.

  • Code Review: Review and validate the code that is being developed by the support team.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications

  • Expert proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+) and TypeScript.

  • Complete understanding of the React Native ecosystem, hooks, and component life cycles.

  • Practical experience setting up complex routing patterns with React Navigation.

  • Solid grasp of Redux Toolkit, Zustand, or Context API.

  • Comfort working with platform tools like Android Studio, and Xcode.

  • Proficiency with automated testing frameworks such as Browserstack.

  • Experience with CI/CD tools tailored for mobile automation, such as GitLab Actions.

  • Mastery of Git workflows and repository management.

  • Experience with mobile monitoring and debugging tools such as Firebase Crashlytics or similar.

  • Experience implementing push notifications and deep linking.

  • Experience in integrating mobile applications with eCommerce, loyalty, authentication, and enterprise backend systems.

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Mobile Development, or equivalent technical field.

  • 3+ years of professional mobile app development experience.

  • Prior background migrating existing web applications (React.js) into mobile environments.

  • Familiarity with offline data storage strategies and local synchronization databases like SQLite or Realm.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate, mentor and develop team members

  • Knowledge of Oracle Commerce a plus
