Job description

MLB Network seeks a Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) to lead financial planning, analysis, and reporting activities across MLB Network (MLBN), MLB Local Media, and other affiliated entities. This role provides senior-level oversight of budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes; reviews and evaluates the work of FP&A staff; and serves as a key finance partner to leadership. • Oversee and review key processes related to financial closing and reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting packages and ad hoc analyses, ensuring accuracy and consistency across deliverables.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships across the organization by synthesizing data and analysis, communicating insights to leadership, and driving opportunities to enhance reporting, processes, and decision-making.
  • Review financial and operating KPIs, evaluate trends and issues identified by the team, and translate findings into actionable insights and recommendations for the CFO and other senior management.
  • Review and approve monthly cash flow reporting for MLB Local Media, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
  • Provide oversight and guidance on invoice coding and financial transactions to ensure accurate reporting, consistency, and identification of key items across entities.
  • Lead efforts to improve financial systems, reports, and dashboards, evaluating recommendations from the team and driving implementation to meet evolving business needs.
  • Support the tracking and fulfillment of contractual commitments as required.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

The Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis is expected to maintain deep expertise in FP&A practices while developing a broad understanding of MLBN, MLB Local Media, and other affiliated entities and fostering the professional growth of the FP&A team.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience with regional sports networks or local sports media is a plus.
  • Experience in television, advertising, affiliate sales, or knowledge of production finance/accounting is a plus.
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively across the organization, including remote teams such as MLB Local Media and MLB Office of the Commissioner.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, lead a team, drive process improvements, and operate effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and experience with financial reporting systems.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule as required.
