Job description

POSITION:
The Modesto Roadsters are looking to hire a General Manager tasked with running the day-to-day operations of the organization and serving as the face of the franchise. The team is a member of the Pioneer Baseball League, an MLB Partner League. It hosts 48 home games from late May through early September, plus a wide variety of other events year-round.
COMPENSATION:
The expected compensation for this role is $80,000 - $95,000. Offers for this role will be made within the parameters of the salary range provided. Years of experience, skills, and other factors are considered when determining the salary offered. Total compensation and offer package will include the following:

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
β€’ Oversee day-to-day operations with an eye toward maximizing profits while entertaining fans.
β€’ Establish team org chart and hire outstanding people to fill all available positions.
β€’ Supervise staff, conduct staff meetings and meet with individual staff on a one-on-one basis.
β€’ Develop marketing and sales strategies for hospitality and game-day tickets.
β€’ Grow our social media base organically with consistent messaging and intriguing daily posts.
β€’ Devise innovative promotional ideas and develop the team's promotional calendar.
β€’ Develop season ticket and mini-plan ticket pricing and sales marketing campaign.
β€’ Work with Ownership to develop a paid media communications plan to sell tickets.
β€’ Assist the merch director in creative ways to promote merch and manage the cost of goods.
β€’ Assist the F&B director in setting quality standards for food and beverage, hiring of seasonal
staff, and managing the cost of goods.
β€’ Work with Director of Ballpark Operations & Groundskeeper to ensure first-rate facility & field.
β€’ Serve as liaison with the team's landlord, the City of Modesto and maintain good city relations.
β€’ Work with the City of Modesto on ballpark improvements.
β€’ Oversee all event-day entertainment, including music, P.A., videos, graphics, and promotions.
β€’ Oversee preparation of all weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
β€’ Monitor payables and receivables and ensure accurate preparation of weekly financial report.
β€’ Manage the team's revenues and expenses.
β€’ Prepare an annual budget and cash-flow analysis and update it monthly.
β€’ Work with the team's manager, coaches, trainer and clubhouse attendant.
β€’ Manage player housing/host family program.
β€’ Manage team travel (i.e. bus schedule & hotel stays) and visiting team hotel stays.
β€’ Serve as the team's media and public relations point of contact and draft press releases.
β€’ Devise social media strategy, monitor social media and ensure posts are happening frequently.
β€’ Negotiate and review vendor contracts.
β€’ Oversee the marketing and sales of non-game-day activities.
β€’ Participate in all Pioneer Baseball League General Managers meetings and conference calls.
β€’ Supervise, train and coach full-time and game-day staff.
β€’ Work with the Groundskeeper to decipher weather on game and event days.
β€’ Ensure Box Office, Food & Beverage, and Merchandise sales are reconciled after each game.
β€’ Other duties as assigned.
Strong work ethic and initiative are keys to this job as the hours can be long, but the environment is fun and fast-paced.
QUALIFICATIONS:
β€’ Minimum 5+ years in sports leadership role, (AGM, VP level or higher) heavy in operations and sales
β€’ Excellent written and oral communications skills along with strong organizational and interpersonal skills
β€’ Inspirational leader with a "can do" attitude who can motivate, excite and bring out the best in a staff
β€’ Social media experience and an understanding of digital marketing
β€’ Budgeting and financial experience is helpful
β€’ Negotiation, time management and conflict management skills
β€’ Must be team-oriented and pay close attention to details
TECHNOLOGY SKILLS:
β€’ Office Suite-Microsoft Office and Operating System Software-Microsoft Windows
β€’ Clover or similar Point of Sale systems
β€’ Pro-Clock or general time clock knowledge and QuickBooks
β€’ Glitnir Ticketing/CRM or similar ticketing systems
