Job Position Overview:
Support the development of key solutions or process improvements for Lilly manufacturing processes or industry defined subjects. Engineering Consultants are expected to bring key expertise and knowledge to the table and lead development processes through research, PEC laboratory experimental efforts, and direct interactions with manufacturing sites, development and functional areas.
This role provides technical leadership (including oversight of the community, technology development, knowledge sharing, mentoring and coaching of others, etc.), provides technical -guidance and support to sites and external manufacturing organizations, supports major capital projects, and networks with the external community at large.
Key Objectives/Deliverables:
  • Provides engineering technical leadership globally in transport phenomena (eg. fluid mixing, heat and mass transfer, etc.) and fermentation engineering support (modeling, mixing, fermenter design, rheology, etc.) for all API, Dry, and Parenteral manufacturing sites and Development groups and to contract manufacturing sites.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally to direct discipline activities, new technology development, - assessments, and deployment.
  • Collaborates with sites globally, assisting with technical evaluations, technology assessment and specific problem resolution including troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and productivity improvements.
  • Develops informal and formal networks with manufacturing and development peers to identify opportunities to apply engineering principles to improve Lilly operations.
  • Develops experimental programs, protocols and models to address technical problems. Includes development and application of vessel and other scale-down models.
  • Supervises laboratory experiments / operations including daily work of technicians to assure that experiments are carried out safely and with high quality and speed.
  • Prepares technical reports and other supporting documentation for knowledge sharing.
  • Leverage external resources to stay current in specific area of technology expertise and when necessary to complement internal resources.

Basic Qualifications:
  • BS Engineering or Science
  • 8 yrs manufacturing experience in a GMP environment (preferably Pharmaceutical Manufacturing)
  • Qualified applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Lilly will not provide support for or sponsor work authorization or visas for this role, including but not limited to F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, F-1 STEM OPT, J-1, H-1B, TN, O-1, E-3, H-1B1, or L-1.

Additional Skills/ Preferences:
  • Demonstrated technical abilities and abilities in engineering as applied to the manufacturing/mixing platforms utilized in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
  • Advanced degree in chemical or biochemical engineering (MS or PhD).
  • Experience with process modeling tools.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate's education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$66,000 - $171,600
Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
