Yale University, School of Medicine
The Department of Surgery at the Yale School of Medicine is currently seeking a PhD or equivalent scientist to join our comprehensive and growing team. Applications are invited for the position of Assistant or Associate Professor of Surgery.
The Department of Surgery would like to appoint an Assistant or Associate Professor in Surgical Outcomes to enhance the research mission of our department. We are seeking a candidate that will have positive, immediate, medium, and long-term salutatory effects on the Department, School, and University. In the short term, we seek a candidate who will bring experience in health services research with expertise in one or more of the following: mixed methods research, novel trial design, implementation science, decision science, or patient-centered outcomes. The candidate will join the community of health services researchers in the department and become part of our newly established mixed-method core. The Assistant or Associate Professor should serve as a beacon for trainees and faculty, with a strong commitment to mentorship across the funding continuum and should set expectations for the level of science that should be emulated in the Department. In addition, the candidate should be an engaged collaborator and equipped to build interdisciplinary teams in surgical outcomes. In the mid-term, we expect the candidate to amplify collaboration with faculty in Surgery and elsewhere at Yale, resulting in the development of new grants. In the long term, we expect this Assistant or Associate Professor's approach and example will enhance the rigor and scientific culture in health services research within the Department of Surgery, the medical school, and Yale University. Applicants should expect to work in a friendly environment with collegial and supportive administration. Candidates must have exceptional interpersonal skills and a commitment to make contributions to the field of Surgical Outcomes. This position is an opportunity to join a growing faculty and build a robust research community in a department committed to furthering and growing its research mission.

Qualifications
PhD (or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
At least 1 year of postdoctoral training and experience in one or more of the following fields: mixed methods research, novel trial design, implementation science, decision science, or patient-centered outcomes.
Qualified candidates will have a strong record of scientific excellence with accomplishments in collaborating on successful grant submissions and impactful publications. When working in a collaborative research effort, the candidate's creative contributions must be distinguished and identifiable.
