Their role often involves developing strategies to prevent or minimize the impact of events such as natural disasters, environmental hazards, or legal liabilities. They work with organizations, government agencies, or legal teams to assess potential risks, implement safety measures, and ensure compliance with regulations. About Big Bear Restoration

At Big Bear Restoration, we’re more than a restoration company—we’re a reliable partner for home and business owners facing unexpected disasters. Our team prides itself on delivering honest, prompt, and high-quality service across emergency mitigation and reconstruction projects. We stand by our commitment to excellence, transparency, and genuine care for our clients.

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Mitigation Manager to lead our Atlanta mitigation team and oversee emergency response and water/fire/mold damage restoration projects.

As the Mitigation Manager, you will be the primary point of contact for new losses, coordinating field teams, documenting damages, and working closely with our company staff coordinators, third-party administrators (TPAs), insurance carriers, and adjusters to ensure claims are handled efficiently. You will manage jobs from the first call through completion of mitigation, ensuring timely response, accurate documentation, and quality service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Emergency Response Oversight – Lead initial response efforts for water, fire, and mold losses, ensuring crews are dispatched quickly and jobs are stabilized.
  • Inspection & Documentation – Perform on-site assessments, capture detailed notes, photos, and moisture readings, and document all mitigation activities.
  • Scope & Estimating – Develop scopes of work and prepare estimates using Xactimate; submit to carriers, TPAs, or clients for review and approval.
  • TPA & Insurance Coordination – Handle communications and compliance with TPAs and insurance partners, ensuring program requirements, KPIs, and service levels are consistently met.
  • Team Leadership – Supervise mitigation technicians, providing guidance, training, and accountability for quality standards and jobsite safety.
  • Customer Communication – Act as the main point of contact for property owners, providing updates, addressing concerns, and instilling confidence throughout the mitigation process.
  • Job Tracking & Compliance – Maintain proper job files, documentation, and drying logs; ensure compliance with IICRC standards, safety regulations, and company procedures.
  • Collaboration with Reconstruction – Coordinate with reconstruction managers to ensure smooth project handoffs once mitigation is complete.

What You Bring to the Table

  • 3–5+ years of mitigation management or supervisory experience in the restoration industry.
  • Proven track record managing water/fire/mold mitigation projects from intake through closeout.
  • Strong knowledge of IICRC standards, drying science, and industry best practices.
  • Demonstrated success working with TPAs and insurance carriers; ability to navigate program requirements.
  • Proficiency in Xactimate estimating (T&M Pro knowledge a plus).
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to coach and hold crews accountable.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with attention to detail and urgency in response.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally to job sites.
