Field Service Technician-Autonomous Robotics

Location: North Carolina/South Carolina Region
Travel: Extensive U.S. Travel Required

About Renu Robotics

Renu Robotics is a leader in autonomous vegetation management solutions, deploying advanced robotic equipment to support utility-scale solar, Airports, and Military facilities across the United States. We are seeking a Field Service Technician to support the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of our fleet of autonomous tractors and related systems.

Position Summary

The Field Service Technician is responsible for installing, commissioning, maintaining, and repairing autonomous robotic equipment at customer sites throughout the US. This role requires a strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently in the field while collaborating closely with Mission Control, Engineering, and Customer Operations teams.

The ideal candidate is hands-on, safety-focused, technology-savvy, and comfortable traveling extensively to support customer installations and service needs.

  • Installation and Commissioning: Install and commission autonomous robotic equipment at customer sites, ensuring all components are properly configured and operational.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Perform regular inspections, maintenance, and troubleshoot issues with autonomous robotic equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Customer Support: Provide positive relationships, technical support, and assistance to customers, addressing their concerns and resolving any issues promptly.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of all installations, maintenance activities, and repairs, including any necessary reports, photos/videos, and documentation.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure all work is performed in accordance with Company and customer safety protocols and regulatory requirements when working around electrical systems, batteries, charging equipment, autonomous machinery, etc.
  • Support: Provide technical service and customer support during field visits and through remote support methods including phone and video conferencing.
  • Diagnostics and Troubleshooting: Quickly diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and software-related issues.
  • Operating: Safely operate all vehicles and equipment while adhering to all company and customer safety requirements.
  • Training: Provide training to customers and other company personnel on proper operation, setup, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting procedures.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Mission Control, Engineering, and Operations teams regarding equipment performance, customer feedback, and field issues.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead and/or assist with continuous improvement efforts with feedback and guidance from field operations.


Qualifications

Required

  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Technical degree, certification, or equivalent experience in electrical, mechanical, automotive, industrial maintenance, robotics, or related field.
  • Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to utilize computers, mobile devices, software applications, and troubleshooting tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel extensively throughout the United States and be away from home for periods of up to 2–3 consecutive weeks.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and/or independently with remote support and minimal supervision.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check.
  • Must successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check if driving is an essential function of the position.
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record for positions requiring operation of company vehicles or driving on company business.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Renu Robotics does not sponsor employment visas for this position.

Preferred

  • Experience servicing industrial equipment, robotics, agricultural equipment, construction equipment, EV systems, or autonomous vehicles.
  • Experience with basic project management tools and methodologies.
  • Strong customer service skills and a customer-focused mindset.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, and climb for extended periods.
  • Ability to safely work around machinery, electrical systems, and batteries.

Compensation

$22.00 – $30.00 per hour, depending on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated capabilities.
