Position Description:

Our people division is growing, and we are looking for an Open Pit Mine Engineer II or III to join our team. The successful candidate will be safety driven, technically proficient and capable of working with and communicating effectively with fellow engineers, operations personnel, surveyors, production geologists, mill metallurgists, and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Specific Mine Planning responsibilities depending on your role within the Mine Planning Team can be rolling Daily/1 week/6 weeks Plans, or 2-year Plans, or Life of Mine Plan
  • Duties in short-range planning, mid-range planning, long-range planning, dump planning, road design, dispatch engineering, drill & blast engineering, reclamation design, permitting engineering support, capital project justification and oversight and/or other engineering projects as required
  • Mine Plans and other engineering product must be technically correct, completed on time and effectively communicated to hourly crews, pit foremen, operations superintendents, mill metallurgists, engineering superintendents, managers and the general manager
  • Complete Mine Plans to facilitate safely meeting metal recovered goals optimizing net value in an environmentally sound manner
  • Lead mine planning working meetings, and Mine Plan presentations to customers
  • Thorough practical understanding of open pit mine operations to ensure mine plan concepts are safe and realistic
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent required
  • Strong CAD and Microsoft Office Skills preferred
  • Ability to work effectively, efficiently, with adequate and timely quality of work, with minimal supervision required
  • 3+ years of post-education mining engineering experience at a site preferred
  • Proficiency in Deswik, Python and SQL preferred 
  • Engineer-in-Training or passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam preferred
  • Experience and education along with the qualifications named above which may qualify you for Senior Mining Engineer roles
  • Additional qualifications could include 10+ years of experience, Professional Engineer registration, a Masters Degree or higher, and/or a history of engineering team leadership and annual budget process leadership
