Job Overview
The Project Engineer II, is responsible for capital equipment projects from order receipt until shipment and final documentation. The Project Engineer II, will review project requirements, develop design plans for Design Engineering, created and review submittal and manufacturing documents to ensure on-time project completion. They will schedule, plan, forecast, resource and manage all the technical activities aiming at assuring project accuracy and quality from conception to completion.
Responsibilities
  • Completes engineering projects by organizing and controlling project elements.
  • Develops project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans and consulting with Project Manager.
  • Determines project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards.
  • Completes technical studies and prepares cost estimates as needed.
  • Confirms product performance by designing and conducting tests, assists in design and expediting of project.
  • Determines project schedule by studying project plan and specifications, calculating time requirements, and sequencing project elements.
  • Maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, and resolving problems.
  • Controls project plan by reviewing design, specifications, and plan, scheduling changes, and recommending actions.
  • Controls project costs by reviewing cost implications with Project Manager.
  • Prepares project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends, recommending actions.
  • Create and modify Bills-of-Materials in CAD and MER/ERP
  • Create and revise project documentation as required per the supplier document list (SDL)
  • Work as a liaison between departments, suppliers and the customer to address project design requirements
  • Review product designs to ensure they meet project specifications and are in-compliance with industry regulations
  • Work with Design Engineering to ensure on-time completion of design work and that designs meet project specifications
  • Oversee testing and address non-conforming material (NCM) issues
  • Domestic and foreign travel to meet with customers and suppliers

Qualifications
  • Professional experience w/ 3D CAD software, SOLID-WORKS preferred, creating models, assemblies and drawings
  • Advanced MS Office Suite
  • Knowledge and experience in machine design, preferably engineered-to-order
  • Skilled in time management, prioritizing and managing changing priorities.
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

Experience and Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 3 + years of related experience
  • EIT/PE preferred

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Overtime may be necessary as the workload dictates. This may include weekdays, weekends, nights and/or holidays
  • Job will generally be performed in an office environment but may require travel. Conditions will vary at each location, but the conditions listed above will generally apply
  • Travel between the NCI facility locations as required

Environmental Safety Requirements
  • New Employee Safety Training is required by all newly hired employees, including Safety Awareness.

Employees are required to wear Nikkiso provided PPE as/when needed. PPEs include safety shoes, safety glasses, face shields, FR clothing, cryogenic gloves, cryogenic apron, cut resistant gloves, safety gloves, hearing protection, hard hats and dust masks. Failure to comply with Nikkiso safety requirements will result in disciplinary actions, up to and including termination.
