MINE PARAMEDIC INCENTIVES

We're hiring Mine Paramedics to provide direct patient care in accordance with GMR protocols and/or medical direction. They also assist with coverage of open shifts as needed with the assigned area.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Must successfully complete and remain current with MSHA required courses, participate in mine rescue drills; and must maintain all mine safety policies and complete all safety training.
  • Evaluates, treats, and stabilizes routine and urgent patients within the scope of practice and standing orders established by the sponsoring physician (Paramedic), with expanded scope responsibilities.
  • Administer over the counter medications and provide medical health screenings including flu shots, and maintain proper documentation.
  • Restocking of First-Aid Bags/Kits, Stoke Baskets, and other supplies as needed.
  • Utilize medical equipment and procedures including defibrillator, EKG monitor, oxygen and suction devices, intravenous fluids, CPR and other procedures and medications as required to provide advanced medical care.
  • Develop and utilize triage skills to provide optimal efficiency during calls.
  • Provide patient care according to clinical protocols and safety requirements, including lifting and moving patients as needed to provide optimum care.
  • Act as team leader and take responsibility for scene management as needed.
  • Monitor and maintain the general condition of the work area, keep it clean and stocked to maintain the image of Guardian Flight and GMR.
  • Ability to function independently and be a self-starter in isolated locations that have poor communication and no support agencies.
  • Ability to climb a 75-foot vertical ladder with 50 lbs. of gear.
  • MUST be able to work underground in a hot and humid environment.
  • All other duties assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a Paramedic, with the ability to function beyond the typical "street environment," where treatment may be the priority, not transport.

Education/Certifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Must possess a current State of Nevada Paramedic Certification.
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License.
  • Driving record in compliance with GMR policy regarding insurability.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be willing to shave facial hair (if needed) to fit a N95 mask
  • Must possess the gross and fine motor skills necessary to sufficiently provide the full range of safe and effective patient care activities
  • Lift and/or move up to 150 pounds cumulative with assistance
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, work independently and as a team member, employ discretion and confidentiality in sensitive areas, read, interpret, and follow instructions.
  • Available to work extended shifts at remote mine sites.
