Camp Maintenance Manager (Remote Mining Camp) — Winnemucca, NV

Position Overview

We are seeking a Camp Maintenance Manager for a remote mining camp near Winnemucca, Nevada. The successful candidate will have experience working in remote camps, supporting site operations, and leading maintenance and hands-on field work safely and efficiently. This role requires strong mechanical/facilities aptitude, the ability to lead by example, and the flexibility to support the business during seasonal peak operating times.

Nevada mining camp conditions include extreme summer heat, high UV exposure, dust/wind, and dry conditions. The role requires safe outdoor work and readiness for shifting operational priorities.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities (Essential)

  • Camp maintenance operations (daily/ongoing): coordinate and/or complete cleaning, laboring, and loading/unloading support as required to keep the camp running.
  • Facilities maintenance & mechanical support: maintain/install and troubleshoot generators, plumbing/water systems, electrical components, pumps, and general site systems (basic HVAC/ventilation support as applicable).
  • Preventative maintenance & inspections: perform routine checks and document maintenance activities/logs.
  • Airside/logistics support (as required): assist logistics operations and coordinate safely around aircraft (rotary and/or fixed-wing, when scheduled), including securing/staging loads and storage.
  • Safety leadership: lead daily Toolbox Meetings; ensure crews follow Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs), SOPs, and all applicable safety requirements including MSHA safety expectations for camp/site activities.
  • Hands-on leadership: direct staff and provide in-the-field support when needed.
  • Communication & reporting: use satellite/in-reach/radios and basic computer tools to coordinate needs and updates.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years experience as an Assistant Camp Manager, lead laborer, or maintenance lead in remote field settings (required).
  • Strong maintenance aptitude in Electrical, Plumbing & Mechanical (solid knowledge required).
  • Intermediate First Aid (or equivalent 2-day course) – required.
  • PAL license (wildlife monitoring) – required.
  • Valid Driver’s License – required.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams safely using JHAs/SOPs and participate in active safety planning.
  • MSHA awareness/experience (camp/site safety practices aligned with MSHA standards) – required.
  • Ability to work safely around mining camp hazards: dust, heat stress, equipment/traffic, fuel handling, uneven ground.
  • Experience loading/unloading and working around aircraft/logistics (rotary and/or fixed-wing) is a definite asset.
  • Computer skills: proficient with MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Office 365).
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills; positive attitude and willingness to support the team.
  • Must be familiar using satellite phone, in-reach systems, and 2-way radios.
  • Trades experience or journeyperson trades designation is a definite asset.

Working Conditions (Nevada)

  • Remote and busy environment with tight deadlines; work may be stressful at times during operational peaks.
  • Must be able to work minimum 21–28 day rotations, with occasional scheduling flexibility as required by seasonal and project timelines.
  • Work performed outdoors in Nevada weather including high heat/UV, dry conditions, dust/wind. Safe travel across uneven and slippery terrain as conditions require.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts performing demanding physical tasks such as hand shoveling/clearing, brushing, fencing/repairs, fueling support, carpentry, and general maintenance.

Mine Site Safety & Compliance (MSHA / Nevada)

  • MSHA certification is required.
  • Must comply with all applicable mine safety and health requirements, including MSHA regulations (30 CFR) and site-specific safety orientation/training.
  • PPE and site rules are required (specific PPE listed by the site upon onboarding).
  • Reference and criminal record checks will be conducted.
  • Some sites may require pre-access drug screening and/or fitness-for-duty clearance.

Preference will be given to local candidates (and candidates with proximity) in the Winnemucca, NV region.
