Job description

Salary:

1) Purpose of Role

Inspect, maintain, and repair heavy equipment and fixed plant systems so assets remain safe, reliable, and productionready. Perform diagnostics, mechanical/hydraulic repairs, and preventive maintenance aligned with site procedures.


2) Scope & Decision Rights

Perform diagnostic, mechanical, and hydraulic repairs; execute preventive maintenance; and ensure all equipment operates safely and efficiently. Troubleshoot, weld, fabricate, and work in challenging conditions such as underground or at high elevations.


3) Essential Duties and Standards

Owns: Equipment inspections, preventive maintenance, and mechanical/hydraulic repairs, CMMS work order documentation and closeout, and Basic welding/fabrication to support repairs.

Supports: Rigging activities under qualified supervision, Rootcause troubleshooting with supervisors and OEMs, and Parts identification and staging.

Recommends/Prepares: Followup repairs and component replacements, as well as lubrication and alignment improvements to reduce downtime.

Escalates: Unsafe conditions, repeat failures, or findings beyond scope, and Critical equipment down events.

  • Proven experience performing tasks with limited supervision(4 yearapprenticeship and documentation of continued employment preferred); reliable attendance; ability to follow safety rules and work procedures.
  • Proficiency with trade tasks such as Fabrication, Hand Tools, Hydraulics, Lubrication, Material Handling, Oxy-Fuel, Pneumatics, and Preventive Maintenance.
  • Demonstrated work practices including Communication, Problem Solving, Teamwork, and Time Management.
  • Relevant credentials as applicable: Rigger/Signal Person (as applicable).
  • OSHA 10 in the construction industry and MSHA preferred
