Position Summary

Under the direction of the Assembly Manager and Service Leadership Team, the Service Technician/Millwright plays a unique and highly visible role within BCT.

This position spends approximately:

  • 50% of the time in Milwaukee building and assembling equipment
  • 50% of the time traveling to customer sites installing, starting up, servicing, and supporting equipment

The ideal candidate enjoys both hands-on mechanical work and customer interaction. This individual will help transform fabricated and machined components into fully functioning machines and then travel to customer facilities to ensure successful installation and operation.

Essential Responsibilities

Machine Building & Assembly

  • Assemble complex industrial machinery from fabricated and machined components
  • Read and interpret blueprints, assembly drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
  • Perform advanced mechanical assembly of heavy industrial equipment
  • Verify assemblies meet BCT quality standards
  • Assist with machine testing and final inspections
  • Operate overhead cranes and rigging equipment safely

Field Service & Installation

  • Travel throughout North America to install and commission BCT equipment
  • Perform machine startup and troubleshooting activities
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical equipment issues
  • Conduct preventative maintenance inspections
  • Train customers on equipment operation and maintenance
  • Complete service reports and documentation accurately and timely
  • Support customers during installations and service visits

  • Support internal and external customers
  • Participate in ongoing safety and technical training
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment

Qualifications

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
  • Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
  • Experience using hand and power tools

Preferred Experience

  • 3+ years of industrial assembly, millwright, maintenance, or field service experience
  • Experience with heavy industrial equipment
  • Overhead crane and rigging experience
  • Hydraulics and pneumatics experience
  • Welding experience (preferred but not required)
  • Electrical troubleshooting experience
  • Equipment installation or startup experience
  • Previous customer-facing field service experience
