Millwork Representative information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Millwork Representative, and why are they important?

To excel as a Millwork Representative, you need in-depth knowledge of millwork products, sales experience, and often a background in construction or manufacturing. Familiarity with inventory management systems, quoting software, and CAD tools is typically required for product specification and order processing. Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills help you effectively liaise between clients, vendors, and internal teams. These competencies ensure accurate order fulfillment, customer satisfaction, and sustained business growth in a competitive market.

What are Millwork Representatives?

Millwork Representatives are professionals who specialize in selling and supporting products made from wood, such as doors, windows, moldings, and cabinetry, often used in construction and remodeling projects. They work directly with builders, contractors, architects, and homeowners to recommend appropriate millwork solutions, provide product information, and coordinate orders and deliveries. Their role also involves staying up-to-date with industry trends, product lines, and building codes to ensure clients receive the best products for their needs. Excellent communication and customer service skills are essential for success in this position.

What is the difference between Millwork Representative vs Sales Representative in the same industry?

AspectMillwork RepresentativeSales Representative
CredentialsExperience in millwork, industry-specific knowledgeVaries by industry, often sales or marketing background
Work EnvironmentShowrooms, construction sites, manufacturing facilitiesOffice, client sites, trade shows
Employer & Industry UsageManufacturers, suppliers of millwork productsVarious industries, including retail, manufacturing, services
Search & Comparison IntentUnderstanding roles in millwork salesGeneral sales roles across industries

The main difference is that a Millwork Representative specializes in selling and promoting millwork products, requiring industry-specific knowledge and experience. A Sales Representative may work across various sectors with broader sales skills. Both roles involve client interaction, but the Millwork Representative focuses on a niche market within the construction and manufacturing industry.

How does a Millwork Representative typically collaborate with project managers and clients during a construction project?

A Millwork Representative often serves as a crucial liaison between the millwork supplier, project managers, and clients throughout a project. They are responsible for interpreting architectural drawings, clarifying specifications, and ensuring that product selections align with the client’s vision and project requirements. Regular communication is essential, as Millwork Representatives coordinate order details, manage timelines, and resolve any product or installation issues that arise. Effective collaboration ensures projects stay on schedule and that the delivered millwork meets quality standards.

Job description

SONORAN DOORS

ARCHITECTURAL DOORS & MILLWORK · PHOENIX, ARIZONA

NOW HIRING

Lead Estimator

For the person who cares about the work — and wants to work somewhere it matters.

About Sonoran Doors

Sonoran Doors has been building custom architectural doors and millwork in Phoenix for twenty-six years. We work with the region's best luxury home builders, architects, and designers — and our work shows up in some of the most distinctive homes in the Valley. Every project is custom. Every project is different. Every home is unique.

We are known in the Phoenix market for two things: exceptional quality, and reliability. That reputation was built one project at a time, one relationship at a time, over more than two decades.

"The way we describe what we want in every person we hire: someone who cares about the work."

About the Role

The Lead Estimator owns Sonoran Doors' estimating function from RFP intake through proposal delivery. You'll read the plans, ask the right questions, prepare the bid, and represent Sonoran Doors' quality standard in every proposal that leaves the office.

Who We're Looking For

You care about the work. You take pride in an accurate takeoff, a clean proposal, a well-managed bid cycle. You notice small things and get them right.

You ask good questions. You've read enough sets of plans to know when something's missing, and you're not afraid to say so.

You own problems. When something goes wrong, your first instinct is "I've got it" — not "someone should look at that."

You're honest, even when it's uncomfortable. You'd rather flag a mistake early than hide it. You'd rather ask for another day than send a rushed bid.

You work skillfully within existing systems rather than trying to reinvent them. We have twenty-six years of built-up tools and processes. Your first move is to learn them, not replace them.

You're looking for a place where your care will matter.

What You'll Need

  • Five to ten years of estimating experience in custom millwork, architectural doors, high-end residential construction, or a closely related premium category.
  • Demonstrated ability to read architectural drawings and specifications independently.
  • Experience owning bids from intake through delivery — not just supporting an estimator.
  • Comfort communicating directly with builders, architects, and designers.
  • A track record of accuracy under time pressure.

What We Offer

  • Salary: $75,000 – $110,000, based on experience.
  • Benefits: health, dental, vision, pet, life.
  • Two weeks paid vacation, plus paid holidays and sick time.
  • Standard Monday-through-Friday business hours.
  • A twenty-six-year-old company with a reputation you'll be proud to represent.
  • A tight-knit team where everyone knows each other and the work is genuinely custom.

How to Apply

Send a resume and a brief cover note telling us why this role sounds like a fit for you.

We read every application personally. If you're the right person for this role, we would like to hear from you.
