Job description

We are seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in estimating & sales as it relates to residential remodels, cabinetry and millwork. The Estimator will be responsible for creating scope of work, quantity take-offs, managing budgets and project costs. They will also need to possess strong communication skills to collaborate with clients, contractors, and team members.
Responsibilities:
Daily review of incoming leads. Follow up on submitted bids.
Schedule pre-production meeting with Project Manager, Project Coordinator
Preliminary review with management to ensure that job is an appropriate fit
Review plans, specifications and/or drawings in detail to determine scope of work
Formulate detailed tabulation of all cabinet, millwork, accessory and lighting items
Prior experience in sales in construction is a plus
Working knowledge of residential remodeling, cabinetry design, architectural and interior design drawings, and specifications
Provide detailed estimates that can range from interior millwork, custom cabinets, countertops, cabinet lighting, framing, drywall, paint, electrical, plumbing
Review company catalog and cost groups for accurate bidding. Actively maintain and update estimating software
Solicit subcontractor and supplier bids to bid projects accordingly
Assist with review of proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate
Present and explain estimates to clients, highlighting the benefit and value of our services
Compute cost factors and prepare estimates used for management purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work; preparing bids; selecting vendors or subcontractors; and determining cost effectiveness
Participate in pre-bid meetings, bid strategy and presentation meetings as requested
Work with individuals in the organization to obtain support and commitment of the cost estimates
Collaborate and build relationships with partners, vendors, and contractors
Participate in cost trend analyses to assist management in cost reduction and process improvement efforts
Exercise initiative or as directed, perform additional duties to meet the needs of the organization
Learning and maintaining industry knowledge of new materials, trends, suppliers, and building codes
Field tasks include measurements, taking photos, meeting with clients, vendors, subcontractors, troubleshooting and walkthroughs
Working knowledge of construction trade practices sufficient to be able to make educated decisions in case of incomplete and/or inaccurate source documentation
Highly motivated to bring in new projects and clients
Physical Demands: Physical demands for this position are moderate. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be walking, standing, bending or lifting of moderately heavy (25-50pounds) items. The work may require specific but common physical characteristics and abilities such as above average agility and dexterity
The position is a full-time position and requires in office attendance
Qualifications:
Prior estimating experience within the remodeling industry is required.
Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications
Excellent calculation of millwork/cabinet estimates, and manufacturing knowledge
Exceptional communication, sales and people skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office
Ability to manage and handle multiple priorities and tasks efficiently
Professional oral and written communication skills
Ability and willingness to make timely decisions while exhibiting sound judgment
Excellent customer service skills
Must be reliable and detail oriented
Committed work ethic and a positive and cooperative attitude
In-depth understanding of construction processes, materials, and costs. Familiarity with relevant building codes and regulations
Experience in Buildertrend software is a plus
