Job description

Huber Cabinet Works is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our team.

We are a custom architectural millwork company based in the Logan Square neighborhood of Chicago, specializing in commercial interiors. We partner with top general contractors and deliver projects for some of the most well-known corporations in the world.

This role is responsible for owning projects from handoff through installation, ensuring they are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest level of quality.

About the Role

You will be responsible for driving projects forward across engineering, purchasing, shop production, and field installation, acting as the central point of coordination and accountability.

In addition to project execution, this role will also support estimating and preconstruction efforts, including budgeting, pricing, and helping secure new work.

Key Responsibilities

Project Ownership & Execution

  • Manage multiple millwork projects from handoff through final installation
  • Take ownership of schedule, budget, and overall project performance
  • Identify risks early and drive solutions to keep projects on track

Coordination Across Teams

  • Work closely with CAD engineering, shop production team, General Install Foreman and Project Management team.
  • Coordinate with General Contractors, architects, and subcontractors
  • Ensure alignment between drawings, production, and installation sequencing

Financial & Administrative Management

  • Manage project budgets and cost tracking
  • Prepare and submit monthly billing / payment applications
  • Review contracts, change orders, and project documentation

Estimating & Preconstruction

  • Prepare budgets, proposals, and takeoffs for new and existing clients
  • Review drawings and specifications to develop accurate pricing
  • Work with ownership and estimating team to help secure new projects
  • Transition awarded projects seamlessly into active project management

Communication & Problem Solving

  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients and internal teams
  • Communicate clearly and proactively to prevent issues through all departments
  • Make decisions quickly while balancing risk, cost, and schedule

What We’re Looking For

Required

  • 5+ years of experience in architectural millwork project management or estimating
  • Strong understanding of millwork construction, materials, and sequencing
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with clients, architects, project management team, CAD Team and Field Team.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills

Preferred

  • Experience managing high-end commercial interior millwork projects
  • Experience in estimating, takeoffs, or preconstruction
  • Familiarity with submittals, shop drawings, and fabrication workflows

Compensation

Pay range: $80,000 – $120,000+ (based on experience)
Performance-based bonus opportunities available
