Position Overview

Merric Millwork & Seating is seeking skilled and motivated Cabinet Assemblers, Builders, and Makers to join our production team. In these hands-on roles, you will assemble, build, fabricate, and finish custom architectural millwork, cabinetry, furniture, and seating components using shop drawings, blueprints, and production specifications.

These positions are responsible for every stage of the manufacturing process, from assembling components and operating woodworking equipment to crafting custom millwork and performing final quality inspections. Whether you are an experienced cabinet maker or an assembler looking to grow your skills, we are committed to helping you build a rewarding career in custom manufacturing. These position requirements range from no experience to a skilled craftsman in the millwork industry. 

For employees interested in expanding their expertise, Merric also offers cross-training opportunities in stone fabrication, metal fabrication, and finishing, providing additional career paths and opportunities for advancement within our company.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Assemble, build, and fabricate custom cabinetry, architectural millwork, furniture, seating, and related products.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, work orders, and production specifications.
  • Measure, mark, cut, shape, and prepare wood and composite materials to precise dimensions.
  • Set up and safely operate woodworking equipment, including saws, jointers, shapers, molders, mortisers, tenoners, sanders, drills, and other production machinery.
  • Assemble components using screws, nails, dowels, glue, clamps, adhesives, and other fastening methods.
  • Laminate cabinet and furniture components as required.
  • Install hardware including hinges, drawer slides, handles, locks, catches, and other cabinet accessories.
  • Sand, trim, scrape, and prepare products for finishing to ensure a smooth, high-quality appearance.
  • Match materials for color, grain, and texture when required.
  • Inspect completed work to verify measurements, fit, finish, and compliance with quality standards.
  • Identify quality concerns and communicate issues promptly to supervisors.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas while following all company safety procedures.
  • Properly care for tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to meet production schedules and customer expectations.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support other production departments as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Experience in cabinet assembly, cabinet building, woodworking, millwork, furniture manufacturing, or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and production specifications is preferred.
  • Experience using hand tools and power tools such as saws, drills, sanders, routers, and measuring equipment.
  • Ability to accurately read a tape measure and perform basic math calculations.
  • Strong manual dexterity, attention to detail, and commitment to quality craftsmanship.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to meet production deadlines while maintaining quality standards.
  • Willingness to learn new skills, techniques, equipment, and manufacturing processes.
