Job description

JBS is seeking a salaried Feed Mill Supervisor to join our team! Position starts at $59,000+bonus, DOE, per year.
Nature of Position:  
Based at our Brandon, CO Feed mill, this position will be responsible for all day-to-day supervisory responsibilities.  We provide a structured developmental position designed to build a successful leader within our feed milling operations. The incumbent will receive comprehensive, hands-on training across core functional areas such as production, quality, maintenance, supply chain, safety, performance management, cost control and compliance requirements. Training will be provided across multiple facilities to provide broad operational exposure and a well-rounded understanding of the organization’s processes and standards. This position carries progressive responsibility and is intended to prepare for feed mill manager role.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
•     Schedules and controls the production process following existing protocols, production records and controls.
•     Monitors feed orders and assures proper execution in order to deliver feed on time.
•     Reviews daily production data and completes appropriate paperwork.
•     Monitors inventories on site, and coordinates with merchants on ingredients in a timely manner.
•     Coordinates with transportation regarding feed deliveries.
•     Controls formulas and coordinates with Formulation on formula requirements in a timely manner.
•     Meet hourly/daily goals, maximizing the feed mill capacity while meeting corporate and business unit guidelines.
•     Coordinates with Feed Desk, field staff and/or feed logistics personnel on feed deliveries and feed quality.
•     Performs regular mill walkthroughs and acts on corrective procedures.
•     Coordinates with maintenance supervisor on preventative maintenance activities.
•     Supervises and coaches feed mill employees. Keeps feed mill manager timely informed of successes and challenges related to personnel.
•     Assists the feed mill manager with implementation and monitoring of milling programs and special projects.

Job Qualifications:
Required Qualifications: 
•     Bachelor’s degree in Feed Science and Management, Animal Science, Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, climbing ladders, lifting up to 50 lb.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing or plant environment, including exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, and production areas.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership potential through academic, internship, or extracurricular experiences.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Willingness and ability to travel and temporarily relocate between facilities during the training process.
  • Must have or be willing and able to get a CDL.
  • Right to work in the U.S. not based solely on possession of a student visa or visa sponsored by a third part employer.

•     Organized and detail orientated, manage priorities and dynamic deadlines.

•     Familiarity and knowledge related to 5S Lean Manufacturing.
•     Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•     Proficient in feed mill batching software (e.g. Repete ®, WEM ®, Beta Raven ®, etc.).
•     Available to work weekends and holidays as needed.
 
Working Conditions:
  • Will be exposed to the elements depending on task at hand
  • Will be required to climb ladders and work on elevated platforms.
  • Work somewhat close to other people, such as when sharing workspace.
The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits
  • Base pay: $59,000 - $70,000 + bonus
  • Benefits: Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment; 
  • Paid Time Off: sick leave, vacation, and 6 company observed holidays; 
  • 401(k): company match begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule;
