Job Duties

To deliver fresh and frozen produce, milk, eggs, juice, Kosher products, and emergency supplies to facilities throughout VA, NC, and MD. The Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC) Agribusiness Unit is charged with providing agricultural training opportunities to inmates in an effort to enhance re-entry and reduce recidivism, while reducing food cost for VADOC.

Minimum Qualifications

Valid Virginia Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class A. Demonstrated ability to operate heavy duty trucks. Considerable knowledge of state laws and agency regulations governing equipment operation. Demonstrated ability to instruct others in use of commercial vehicle equipment. Successful completion of prescribed physical exam by a qualified physician. Knowledge of highway and equipment operation safety rules. Skilled in customer service techniques and teamwork.

Additional Considerations

Tanker endorsement and milk handler's permit or ability to obtain both within 60 days of hiring. Working knowledge of food handling. Knowledge of general repair of transfer highway equipment. Experience managing a an agricultural or corrections operation.
