The job responsibilities of a milk truck driver include operating a heavily insulated tank truck or milk tanker and pumping milk into the vehicle. You then transport the milk from commercial locations, such as a dairy farm or creamery, to other businesses, where you unload the product. Additional duties include conducting vehicle inspections and submitting inspection papers, driver logs, and other legal documents. You give grades to the milk in these bulk tanks, and as the milk truck driver, you sample and measure the number of gallons and temperature at each stop, collect samples for lab analysis, and handle quality control to ensure that the product meets FDA standards. Safe operation of the milk truck at all times and on-time delivery are the main expectations of the position.
