What is a MiLB Baseball?

A MiLB (Minor League Baseball) job refers to various roles within Minor League Baseball, including positions in team operations, player development, marketing, sales, and more. These jobs can be with a specific team or the league itself and often serve as stepping stones to careers in Major League Baseball (MLB). Responsibilities vary depending on the role, but they typically involve supporting the team, enhancing fan experience, and ensuring smooth game-day operations. Many MiLB jobs require strong communication skills, a passion for baseball, and a willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.

What does a typical day look like for a MiLB Baseball player during the season?

A typical day for a Minor League Baseball player during the season is highly structured and physically demanding. Mornings often start with fitness training, conditioning, and sometimes team meetings or video review sessions. Afternoons are generally dedicated to batting practice, field drills, and positional work, followed by pregame preparation and the actual game in the evening. Players work closely with coaches, trainers, and teammates to continuously hone their skills and adapt to the rigorous game schedule. The environment emphasizes development, so time is also set aside for feedback and building the habits necessary for advancement to higher leagues.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the MiLB Baseball position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Minor League Baseball (MiLB) player, you need advanced athletic ability, a deep understanding of the game, and often experience at the collegiate or amateur professional level. Players typically utilize tools like video analytics software for performance review, baseball-specific training equipment, and may require certifications in physical fitness or sports nutrition. Strong work ethic, resilience, and teamwork are vital soft skills for success within the dynamic and competitive environment of MiLB. These capabilities help players adapt, develop their potential, and progress toward higher levels of professional baseball.

Whether you're joining one of our clubs or our back-office team, you'll be part of an organization that values creativity, collaboration and a shared commitment to delivering exceptional fan experiences while making a meaningful impact in the communities we serve.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Generate new revenue by actively prospecting and selling through cold calling, outbound outreach, sales technologies, in-person appointments, stadium tours, and participation in networking and community events

  • Maintain a thorough working knowledge of benefits, products, policies, procedures, and pricing
  • Collaborate closely with sales team to support and execute sales initiatives, campaigns, and programs designed to drive sustained revenue growth
  • Accurately maintain all customer interactions, sales activity, and pipeline progression within DBH360 and Tickets.com, ensuring timely and detailed record keeping
  • Log and track all inbound and outbound communication to ensure clear visibility into sales efforts and customer touchpoints
  • Represent the organization with professionalism and a high level of hospitality in the ballpark and throughout the community
  • Participate in networking opportunities and community engagement initiatives, including Chamber of Commerce events, One Spartanburg, SYPS, and other local organizations, to generate leads and expand brand awareness
  • Demonstrate the ability to quickly learn, retain, and confidently communicate key information, including schedules, products, ballpark details, and guest experience offerings
  • Contribute to a collaborative, team-first culture by supporting department and organizational needs as they arise

Qualifications:

  • Commitment to delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining strong client relationships for retention and account growth
  • Professional, confident, and approachable communication style—both over the phone and in written correspondence
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently follow through
  • Eagerness to learn the business, develop sales skills, and grow within the organization
