Midwest Direct helps our clients efficiently create and deliver their print, mail and digital messages with the best audience data for targeted and accurate deliverability. When you add in our additional delivery channels, such as email, Informed Delivery, and online advertising, we average over two million messages a day delivered to mailboxes, inboxes and online.
Midwest Direct is looking for an Assistant Print Manager!
**$500 Sign-On Bonus!**
Job duties include:
The Print Production Manager oversees all aspects of print manufacturing operations, ensuring projects are produced efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards. This role manages production workflows, staff, equipment utilization, vendor relationships, inventory, and continuous process improvements across printing and finishing operations.
Job Responsibilities:
Production Management
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate daily print production activities to meet deadlines and customer expectations.
  • Monitor production schedules and adjust priorities to maximize efficiency and output.
  • Ensure all jobs are produced according to client specifications, quality standards, and delivery timelines.

Team Leadership
  • Manage, coach, and develop production staff.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, training, and ongoing skill development.
  • Create staffing schedules and manage labor allocation to meet production demands.
  • Foster a safe, collaborative, and accountable work environment.

Quality Control
  • Establish and maintain quality control procedures across all production stages.
  • Review proofs, press checks, color consistency, finishing accuracy, and final product quality.
  • Resolve production issues, defects, and customer concerns quickly and effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with company quality standards and industry best practices.

Equipment & Maintenance
  • Oversee maintenance schedules for printing presses, finishing equipment, and production machinery.
  • Coordinate repairs, service contracts, and equipment upgrades as needed.
  • Monitor equipment performance and recommend capital investments.

Inventory & Vendor Management
  • Manage inventory levels for all consumables.
  • Coordinate purchasing and vendor relationships to ensure cost-effective sourcing.
  • Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and service agreements when applicable.

Budget & Cost Control
  • Monitor production costs including labor, materials, waste, overtime, and equipment usage.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and increase profitability.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and operational planning.

Compliance & Safety
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, workplace safety standards, and environmental guidelines.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe production areas.
  • Lead safety initiatives and incident reporting.

Compensation:
55,000 - 60,000 / salary
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of print production or manufacturing management experience.
- Strong knowledge of web inkjet, offset, and digital printing.
- Experience with bindery, finishing, mailing, and fulfillment operations.
- Mechanically inclined.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of color management and print quality standards.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk production floor regularly.
- Ability to lift up to 25-50 lbs occasionally.
- Ability to push and pull large paper rolls.
- Comfortable working in manufacturing/warehouse environments with noise and machinery exposure.
MUST be able to pass criminal background check and drug test!
