Valve Technician (PSV/PRV Testing)
Quality Process Services - QPS
Location: Midland/ Odessa, TX
Rotation: 14/14
Daily Per Diem: $40.00 per day
Housing Provided: QPS Midland House during scheduled rotation

Position Summary
QPS is seeking an experienced Valve Technician with proven expertise in valve maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and pressure safety valve testing. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of industrial valves and actuators, demonstrate strong technical capabilities, and maintain a commitment to safety, quality, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Install, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and overhaul a wide variety of industrial valves, including:
    1. Gate valves
    2. Ball valves
    3. Plug valves
    4. Control valves
  2. Install, diagnose, repair, and maintain all types of valve actuators, including pneumatic, hydraulic, and electric actuators.
  3. Demonstrate working knowledge of multiple valve and actuator manufacturers and models.
  4. Perform testing, inspection, calibration, maintenance, and repair of Pressure Relief Valves (PRVs) and Pressure Safety Valves (PSVs).
  5. Conduct post-maintenance testing and verification to ensure equipment meets operational and safety requirements.
  6. Identify equipment deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
  7. Accurately complete inspection reports, maintenance records, test documentation, and other required paperwork in a timely manner.
  8. Maintain compliance with all company, customer, and regulatory safety standards and procedures.
  9. Communicate effectively with customers, supervisors, and team members regarding work status, findings, and recommendations.
  10. Provide professional customer service while representing the company at client facilities.
  11. Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and organized condition.
Required Qualifications
  1. Minimum 5+ years of experience as a Valve Technician in industrial, oil and gas, petrochemical, refinery, or related environments.
  2. Demonstrated experience testing, repairing, and calibrating PRVs and PSVs.
  3. Strong understanding of valve operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting principles.
  4. Experience with multiple valve and actuator manufacturers and models.
  5. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and maintenance procedures.
  6. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  7. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  9. Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
  10. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  11. Ability to pass all required safety, background, and drug screening requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Valve repair and testing certifications.
  2. Experience working in refinery, petrochemical, pipeline, or midstream facilities.
  3. Knowledge of industry standards related to valve maintenance and pressure relief devices.
  4. Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
