Position Relationship

Responsible to: Clinical Supervisor

Workers Supervised: None

Interrelationships: Works closely with patients, their families, physicians, and co-workers.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Provider/Practice Administrator/Nurse.
  • Promotes Customer Service.
  • Utilizes decision-making skills to participate in the effective management of patient and systems problems.
  • Utilizes practical interpersonal skills in interactions.
  • Participates in achieving clinic and patient goals.
  • Comfortable with administering vaccines.
  • Develops individual goals for job-related growth and development.
  • Provides and facilitates the delivery of efficient, safe, and effective patient care
  • Maintains patient flow promptly, obtains accurate history, documents appropriately, and communicates pertinent information to clinical staff and providers.
  • Adheres to infection control policies and techniques of handling body substances and uses universal precautions on all patients.
  • Demonstrates ability to perform technical skills accurately and within a reasonable time frame.
  • Prioritizes and implements quality patient care, demonstrating effective time management.
  • Participates in the education of patients, families, and significant others.
  • Seeks guidance and direction for successfully performing responsibilities; relates all patient care questions outside the Medical Assistant's scope of responsibility to the Provider.
  • Demonstrates good verbal and written communication skills; documents and reports clearly and concisely.
  • Ensures that the inventory of necessary supplies and equipment for diagnostic and treatment procedures is maintained. Responsible for ensuring that examination/treatment rooms are clean and stocked with supplies.
  • Excels in all aspects of job performance and holds themselves accountable for their actions.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    1. High School graduate or equivalent
    2. A current certificate from an accredited medical assistant or nursing assistant program is required.
  • Training and Experience:
    1. Minimum of six months experience working as a Medical Assistant.
    2. One year of experience in a Pediatric office setting is preferred.
    3. Bilingual abilities are desirable but not mandatory.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to work under stressful conditions.
  • Potential exposure to hazardous substances and disease.
  • May have varied work hours.
  • Must be able to perform/withstand:
    1. Sustained standing and walking
