Job description

Overview/ Job Responsibilities

Position is contingent upon contract award and funding.

Entarian is seeking an experienced Platform Engineer (Containers / Middleware) to design, deploy, and manage container platforms and middleware services that support enterprise applications. This role ensures reliable, scalable, and secure platform operations across onprem and cloud environments. This role partners closely with systems engineers, software developers, cybersecurity personnel, DevSecOps teams, and government stakeholders to design cloud environments that support mission operations across hybrid and cloud-native infrastructures.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience supporting large-scale technical environments involving cloud platforms, space systems, mission operations, communications networks, enterprise IT, or classified government systems.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Design, build, and maintain enterprise container platforms (Kubernetes, OpenShift, AKS/EKS/GKE).
  • Deploy, configure, and support middleware technologies such as application servers, messaging platforms, API gateways, and service meshes.
  • Implement automation for platform provisioning, scaling, monitoring, and life-cycle management.
  • Develop CI/CD pipelines and GitOps work-flows for application deployment.
  • Ensure platform security, including access controls, patching, secrets management, and compliance.
  • Optimize cluster performance, resource utilization, and high availability configurations.
  • Troubleshoot container, orchestration, and middleware issues across build and runtime environments.
  • Collaborate with development, operations, security, and cloud teams to deliver stable and efficient platforms.
  • Maintain documentation for architectures, standards, deployment patterns, and support procedures.

Salary range: $120,000.00 - $150,000.00

Minimum Qualifications
  • Active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, engineering, or related technical discipline. (Equivalent experience may be considered.)
  • Minimum five (5) years of handson experience with container platforms (Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker).
  • Strong understanding of middleware tools such as WebLogic, JBoss, Kafka, NGINX, RabbitMQ, or Istio.
  • Proficiency in scripting/automation (Bash, PowerShell, Python).
  • Experience with CI/CD tooling (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab, Argo CD, Tekton).
  • Familiarity with cloud services (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and hybrid integration patterns.
  • Knowledge of infrastructureascode (Terraform, Helm, YAML, Ansible).
  • Experience with monitoring and observability (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Splunk).
  • Good technical communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Power-Point, Excel, Project, and Outlook.
  • Ability to travel approximately 25% to support customer locations, mission partner engagements, and operational activities. 
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with service mesh architectures, API gateways, or microservices platforms.
  • Knowledge of security best practices for containerized workloads.
  • Certification in Kubernetes or relevant cloud technologies.
  • Experience with multicluster and multitenant environments.
