What is a middleware architect?

Middleware software helps a computer network connect an application to the cloud or another operating system and diversifies computing by increasing the methods by which systems communicate. A middleware architect is an expert in utilizing this software. In this role, you evaluate your company's current network to find connectivity issues or gaps in communication. Once your analysis is complete, you design a plan that outlines how the company's network should use middleware and implement your changes or updates. You may also be responsible for monitoring the system to fix any bugs and ensure it runs smoothly.

What is a middleware architect?

A Middleware Architect is an IT professional responsible for designing, implementing, and managing middleware solutions that connect different software applications and systems within an organization. Middleware refers to software that acts as a bridge between operating systems, databases, and applications, enabling seamless communication and data exchange. Middleware Architects ensure that these systems work together efficiently, are scalable, secure, and meet the business requirements. They also play a key role in selecting appropriate middleware technologies, troubleshooting integration issues, and maintaining system performance.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a middleware architect, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Middleware Architect, you need deep expertise in software architecture, integration patterns, and middleware technologies, often supported by a degree in computer science or related fields. Familiarity with tools like IBM WebSphere, Oracle Fusion Middleware, Apache Kafka, and certifications such as TOGAF or vendor-specific credentials are commonly required. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills set standout professionals apart in this role. These skills and qualifications are critical for designing robust, scalable systems that ensure seamless data and process integration across complex enterprise environments.

What are some common challenges faced by middleware architects when integrating new technologies into existing enterprise systems?

Middleware Architects often encounter challenges such as ensuring compatibility between legacy systems and modern applications, managing data consistency across distributed environments, and maintaining system performance during integration. They must also address security concerns, such as authentication and data protection, while facilitating seamless communication between different platforms. Collaborating closely with development, operations, and security teams is essential to navigate these complexities and deliver robust, scalable middleware solutions.

Job description

About SiTime
SiTime is the Precision Timing company.
Timing is the heartbeat of all electronics, ensuring performance, resilience and scalability. For decades, quartz devices, non-silicon technology, have kept systems in sync, but they struggle in harsher, more demanding environments. MEMS-based Precision Timing delivers greater accuracy, smaller size and resilience. Today, MEMS timing powers over 400 applications, including high-growth ones in AI datacenters, automated driving, industrial and humanoid robots, wearables and IoT.
Our semiconductor MEMS programmable solutions offer a rich feature set that enables customers to differentiate their products with higher performance, smaller size, lower power, and better reliability. Job Summary
SiTime is seeking an experienced Oracle Fusion Cloud Architect to lead the strategic design, governance, and continuous evolution of our Oracle Fusion ERP platform. This senior role is critical in architecting integrated, scalable solutions across Order-to-Cash, Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing and Financial processes.
The ideal candidate combines deep functional and technical expertise in Oracle Fusion Cloud with proven experience architecting solutions for complex, multi-tier manufacturing supply chains typical of fabless semiconductor companies. You will serve as trusted advisor to business and IT leadership, and mentor to functional and technical teams while ensuring our ERP landscape supports hypergrowth, operational excellence, compliance, and innovation.
Responsibilities
  • Under the guidance from the Oracle Manager, drive the end-to-end Oracle Fusion Cloud solution architecture (functional, integration, data, security, and compliance) and drive the multi-year ERP technology roadmap aligned with SiTime's business strategy and growth objectives.
  • Lead the translation of business requirements from Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, and Engineering into robust technical solutions. Serve as the key liaison between business stakeholders and IT, partnering across Finance, Operations, Sales, and Manufacturing.
  • Lead architecture and design reviews for all customizations, extensions, integrations, and reports, enforcing standards, reusability, security, and performance best practices. Ensuring adherence to best practices, minimal customization, extensibility standards, and long-term maintainability.
  • Design and oversee sophisticated integration architectures using Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC) and other iPaas Middleware, REST/SOAP APIs, EDI, and file-based interfaces to connect Fusion with Customers EDI, external manufacturing partners, Salesforce, data/analytics platforms Oracle PLM and future advanced planning systems.
  • Develop and maintain reference architectures, integration patterns, data models, security frameworks, and design decision records; chair architecture review boards and ensure consistent, high-quality solution designs across all initiatives.
  • Provide strategic guidance on leveraging Oracle Cloud capabilities including new AI/ML features, advanced analytics, OCI services, and Redwood experiences to drive process automation, predictive insights, and user productivity in financial close, supply chain execution, and order fulfillment.
  • Lead or heavily contribute to full project lifecycles: requirements workshops, solution design (including high-level and detailed functional/technical specifications), configuration, integration, data migration strategy, testing, deployment, hyper care, and ongoing production support.
  • Mentor, coach, and provide architectural direction to functional consultants, technical developers, and AMS service providers; conduct design reviews, code reviews, and knowledge-sharing sessions to build internal capability.
  • Drive resolution of complex, cross-pillar, and integration-related production issues; serve as escalation point and work directly with Oracle Support and AMS service providers on high-priority Service Requests, ensuring timely root-cause analysis and preventive actions.
  • Ensure all solutions comply with SOX/ITcontrols, data privacy regulations, export control requirements, and IP protection standards critical to a public fabless semiconductor company; support internal and external audits as needed.
  • Create and maintain high-quality architectural documentation, executive presentations, training materials for advanced topics, and decision logs that support knowledge retention and onboarding.
  • Manage multiple concurrent high-visibility priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced hypergrowth environment, demonstrating superior time management, stakeholder communication, and executive presence.

Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 12+ years of hands-on experience with Oracle E-Business Suite and/or Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications, including at least 5+ years serving as Solution Architect, Technical Architect, or Lead Architect on large-scale, complex ERP implementations, upgrades, or managed support engagements.
  • Proven expertise architecting integrated solutions spanning Oracle Fusion Financials, and SCM/O2C modules. Experience with Fabconnect is a plus
  • Strong functional understanding of manufacturing and supply chain operations, with direct experience or highly transferable knowledge from semiconductor, electronics, or high-tech manufacturing environments - including multi-tier supply chains, foundry/OSAT collaboration models, lot/batch/serial tracking with full traceability, inventory reconciliation across partners, yield/quality integration, and sophisticated cost accounting
  • Technical expertise of Oracle Cloud Platform capabilities: Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC), Visual Builder Cloud Service and Redwood for extensions and modern UIs, REST/SOAP APIs, FBDI for bulk data loads, ESS jobs, Workflow, and comprehensive security configuration (IDCS, roles, data access sets, encryption).
