JOB GOAL
The Library Aid is responsible for partnering with teaching staff in the development of student literacy through the administration of the library/media center; to assist with technology integration in the academic curriculum; and to oversee the selection, organization, utilization, and maintenance of library resources.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
  1. Associates degree or passing score on Paraprofessional Exam
  2. Successful experience working in a school library preferred
  3. Proficient with technology and ability to use various computer programs that ensure the successful management of the library resources
  4. Ability to work cooperatively with parents, community, and staff
  5. Ability to take direction and complete assigned tasks
  6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Promote literacy and the enjoyment of reading for information and pleasure
  2. Maintain a library culture that is conducive to learning and supports school reading programs
  3. Collaborate with teachers to provide integrated instruction for students in information and technology literacy; assist students and staff in identifying appropriate resources for achievement of students' learning goals
  4. Actively plan with teachers and groups of teachers to integrate library services and multimedia materials with the instructional program
  5. Reinforce strategy-based reading instruction to help students make meaning from text; support students' interaction with a variety of genre as reflected in district reading
  6. Develop, evaluate and maintain a diversified library collective of print, non-print, and electronic resources to support curricular needs, the development of student literacy, and the interests of students
  7. Organize and supervise the ordering, checking, processing and maintaining of media center materials; access district procedures and tolls for circulation, cataloging, and processing
  8. Coordinate promotional activities; book clubs, book fairs, exhibits, etc.
  9. Other duties as may be assigned

SALARY
Level 1 on the Support Staff Wage Schedule
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Terms of Employment:
  • 10 months
  • 7 hours per scheduled day Monday-Thursday
  • Sick/Personal Leave
  • Participation in Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS)
