The Difference You Make:
The Equity Middle Office Associate supports Santander Corporate & Investment Banking's U.S. Equity business by managing the post-trade lifecycle and partnering with Trading, Sales, Operations, Technology, Risk, Compliance, Finance, and external market participants to ensure timely settlement, strong operational controls, and exceptional client service.
In addition to daily operational responsibilities, this role will contribute to operational transformation by leveraging AI, automation, and data analytics to improve efficiency, strengthen controls, and reduce manual processes across Equity Middle Office and ETD Operations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support the end-to-end post-trade lifecycle for U.S. Equity products.
  • Monitor trade flow, investigate operational exceptions, and resolve settlement issues.
  • Coordinate with Trading, Sales, Operations, Technology, Risk, Compliance, custodians, and counterparties to minimize settlement risk.
  • Support T+1 settlement readiness through proactive exception management and operational controls.
  • Produce operational reporting, KPI dashboards, and management metrics.
  • Support audit, regulatory, business continuity, and strategic initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve Straight-Through Processing (STP) and reduce manual intervention.
  • Leverage AI, automation, Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, SQL, Power BI, Python, Power Automate, or similar tools to streamline workflows.
  • Participate in technology initiatives, user acceptance testing, and process improvement projects.

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree: in related field or equivalent demonstrated through a combination of work experience, training, military service, or education - Required

Qualifications:
  • 5+ Years of experience in Equity Middle Office, Equity Operations, or Securities Operations supporting institutional equity products.
  • Strong understanding of the equity trade lifecycle, including trade capture, allocations, affirmations, settlement, fails management, and post-trade controls.
  • Demonstrated settlement experience across U.S. equity markets (DTC/NSCC) and international equity markets, with particular emphasis on Latin America (Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Argentina).
  • Experience supporting convertible bonds and convertible arbitrage trading, including post-trade processing, settlement, and lifecycle events is highly desirable.
  • Experience coordinating with custodians, broker-dealers, counterparties, and local market agents.
  • Knowledge of cross-border settlement workflows, SSI management, FX funding considerations, and local market practices.
  • Hands-on experience with Fidessa, Murex, and Bloomberg (BBG).
  • Experience with Pershing, Euroclear, CACEIS, DTCC/NSCC, or similar post-trade platforms is highly desirable.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required; SQL, Power BI, Python, or Power Automate experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated interest in AI, automation, and continuous process improvement.
  • Strong analytical, communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
