RSM Canada is looking for an International Tax Senior Manager to join our team. This role provides an opportunity to join a specialty area within the firm's rapidly expanding Canadian tax practice, focused on inbound and outbound clients. As a Tax Senior Manager, you will use your expertise to provide international tax consulting and compliance services to entities with foreign investors and cross-border investments. You will also help lead our growth initiatives, develop new business opportunities and work closely with senior staff and the Partners.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Candidates must be curious, demonstrate critical thinking skills and have the desire to solve complex problems for our internationally active clients. As you grow, you will develop the analytical skills necessary for the effective identification, development and implementation of solutions to our clients' tax needs. With RSM, you will have tremendous opportunity to develop and pursue creative approaches to solve client issues. Responsibilities include:

  • Owning and driving the success of multiple engagements across different jurisdictions in a dynamic work environment.
  • Demonstrate a strong desire to learn the Income Tax Act, Canadian Income Tax Regulations, CRA rulings and caselaw and how to apply this understanding to complex cross border tax issues.
  • Provide mentorship, detailed reviews and training of staff.
  • Stay alert to client needs that may result in growth opportunities for the firm and communicate to the broader client engagement team.
  • Work with RSM colleagues across different jurisdictions.
  • Promote new ideas, business and tax solutions that result in extended services to existing clients.
  • Develop an understanding of our clients' business and become a "functional cross border tax expert".

Basic Qualifications:

  • Requires a minimum of a Bachelor's' degree, preferably in Accounting or a related field.
  • Requires a minimum of eight (8) years public accounting experience working for a Big 4 or large national, regional or local accounting firm.
  • Requires experience with international tax compliance and consulting, in particular, preparing forms T1134, T2 (Sch 91 returns), surplus computations, FAPI analysis, etc
  • Requires one of the following to be complete, active, and in good standing: CPA, JD or InDepth Tax Program
  • Dynamic problem solver, solid work ethic and strong project management skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters of Taxation, Law Degree or Enrolled in CPA Canada In Depth Tax Program.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex information and the interpretation of tax laws.
  • Strong project management skillset that can be demonstrated in fast moving, complex cross border engagements.

At RSM, an employee's pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range: $112,500 - $192,000

Individualsselected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
