Description

SAIC is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the US Navy in Crane, IN.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

You will be part of a collaborative team of engineers and technicians working to support sustainment activities within the Strategic Systems unit at NSWC Crane. This role will be focused on adapting and updating existing assets and infrastructure for the Conventional Prompt Strike missile systems used on the new Columbia/Dreadnaught class submarines. You will primarily work on the Crane Naval Base directly supporting the Government Customer, with occasional trips to SAIC’s facility in Bedford, IN.

JOB RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently with changing deadlines and priorities
  • Interact directly with customers to extract requirements, generate a plan, and report status
  • Prepare Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) to revise official drawings
  • Conduct Failure Analysis and recommend corrective actions
  • Create Quality Acceptance documents using drawings and program requirements to validate new hardware

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and three (3) years or more experience
  • Experience with engineering design, modeling, and drawing development
  • Knowledge of systems engineering and integration principles such as requirements definition, verification and validation testing, interface control documents (ICDs) and systems engineering management plans (SEMP)
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel and work well independently and as part of a team
  • Interim secret clearance is required to start with the ability to obtain a secret clearance. SAIC will sponsor the clearance process
  • Must be a US citizen

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Familiar with quality management systems, familiar with ASME drafting standards, troubleshooting experience, experience with Product Data Management Systems (e.g., Windchill, iPDM)
  • SolidWorks and/or CREO
