Job description

About the Job

Ready to lead our mining sales strategy and build powerful client partnerships across North America?

At Bradken (a subsidiary of Hitachi Construction Machinery), how we work is just as important as what we deliver. Guided by our values of Challenge, Customer, and Communication (The Kenkijin Spirit), we are seeking a dynamic Area Manager – Mining Sales (North America). In this pivotal role, you will combine high-level commercial strategy, people leadership, and deep customer engagement to sustainably grow business profitability in a competitive mining landscape.

This is a unique opportunity to lead a multidisciplinary sales team at the intersection of engineering, manufacturing, and global operations, where your leadership will directly drive market share and performance.

The Value-Add for Top Talent

  • Fully Leased Corporate Vehicle: To ensure you can easily connect with our people and partners, this role includes a fully company-leased truck for all business and field travel.
  • True Leadership & Autonomy: You will hold full functional ownership of regional sales plans, major contract negotiations, and team optimization, reporting directly to the Vice President of Sales, North America.
  • Global Ecosystem: Leverage the immense technological, manufacturing, and supply chain strength of both Bradken and the wider Hitachi Construction Machinery Group.

About the Role

As Area Manager, you will lead, develop, and inspire a high-performing regional Mining Sales team (including Regional Sales and Account Managers). Your mission is to analyze market and competitor dynamics, optimize sales processes, and execute robust value propositions that drive regional growth.

Product Scope: This role directly focuses on Mining Mobile Equipment portfolios, specifically targeting Ground Engaging Tools (GET), Crawler Systems, and associated heavy machinery solutions.

You are a customer-oriented leader who navigates complex commercial data with ease, proactively addresses business risks, and cultivates high-level networks across senior client spaces and internal operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Growth: Lead regional sales to hit revenue, margin, and budget targets while providing market trends to senior leadership.
  • Sales Operations: Oversee sales budgets, monthly reviews, Salesforce forecasting, and collaborate with manufacturing/supply chain to meet customer commitments.
  • Account & Contract Management: Lead key account planning, contract negotiations, margin protection, and semi-annual client KPI reviews.
  • People & Culture: Champion a proactive safety/quality culture, coach the team, and optimize regional resource distribution.

About You

We are looking for a commercially driven sales leader with a passion for building lasting partnerships in the heavy industry sector. We value deep mining industry experience and sharp commercial acumen above all else, combined with a strategic, sales-hunter mindset

You Bring:

  • Experience: A proven track record in Sales, Account Management, or Business Development within the Mining, Mineral Processing, or Heavy Industrial sectors. Experience working with mining clients, OEMs, or heavy equipment dealer networks is a must-have.
  • Product & Technical Expertise: Strong familiarity with Ground Engaging Tools (GET) and/or Crawler Systems is highly preferred. Knowledge of heavy machinery applications (such as Rope Shovels and Hydraulic Excavators) across various makes and models will give you a distinct advantage.
  • Leadership Capabilities: Experience as a Team Lead, Senior Individual Contributor, or People Manager. We welcome mid-level leaders ready for their next step, as you will initially lead a small team for regional growth.
  • Commercial Acumen: Strong capability to navigate high-value contract negotiations, manage financial commercial cycles, and leverage CRM data (Salesforce experience is highly preferred) to optimize sales processes.
  • Education: A bachelor's degree or equivalent tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. You must be able to translate technical concepts into value propositions and collaborate effortlessly across matrixed global teams.

Location: Position is based in the Southwest, ideally operating out of our Phoenix or Mesa office. You will play a pivotal role in supporting our local mining clients while collaborating on accounts across the country.

Physical Readiness: Due to regular field and mine site visits, this role requires the physical ability to safely navigate operational mining environments and successfully complete standard pre-employment medical screenings.

NOTE: Application Details

Apply via LinkedIn or our Careers Website before June 27th, 2026.

Note on Cover Letters: While completely optional, if you submit one, please focus on your mining industry footprint, your core commercial specializations (e.g., technical sales, hunting, or product management), and your top quantifiable achievements.
