Job description

American Carrier Transport is seeking an Intermodal dispatcher/customer service person to join our team in our office in Houston, TX


We Seek:

The successful candidate will need to be well disciplined, organized, work independently, and able to multi-task, and someone that looks and searches for the duties that need to be completed without strict supervision or direction. You must have previous experience in an actual drayage dispatch environment. We are looking for someone who has worked for a drayage carrier - not with them.


Responsibilities:

  • Type accurately entering customer orders, driver updates, and the completion of billing
  • Provide assistance and support to both customers and company personnel
  • Assist with dispatching drivers for their pick-ups and deliveries.
  • Assist with email and scheduling delivery appointments as needed
  • MUST HAVE - Experience with Rail Billing, Chassis Pool management, and maintaining chassis inventories
  • Call vendors to request paperwork and obtain needed data for invoicing
  • Conduct daily tracing on active shipments and report any delays
  • Enter key data into various online and internal portals including financial data and track/trace updates etc.
  • Update daily customer reports and/or website portals
  • Manage, and update customer reports using tools such as Microsoft Excel
  • Retrieve shipment documentation and upload in system to prepare shipments for invoicing
  • Release shipments in system to initiate invoicing
  • Other duties as directed

Experience:

  • You must have 1 to 2 years of actual intermodal drayage dispatch experience with a drayage carrier - we are not looking for someone who dispatched to trucking companies.

Education:

  • High school degree required; BA or Associate degree preferred
  • Required Skill Set:
  • Must have at least 1 to 2 years Intermodal Drayage Dispatch experience with a drayage carrier.
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly Microsoft Windows, Outlook, and Excel
  • Well organized to handle large amounts of data effectively
  • High level of attention to detail and critical thinking skills
  • Strong time management skills
  • Ability to multi-task at all times
  • Excellent communication skills both written (email) and oral (phone)

We operate like a small 3PL. We have a small drayage operation in Houston, a Brokerage operation in Chicago, and a 70' Sq' warehouse in Houston.
